Is Man a puppet in the hands of Fate?

I believe man is an architect of his own fate. He is not a puppet in the hands of fate. He has been given a free will and made independent to choose the course of action in his life to be successful Herein and the Hereafter. How do you opine in this regard?

A man being the first in everything, will not be regarded
as a puppet in the hands of fate.Like in the family everybody
depends on the father as it is his responsibility to provide,
he will be adequately and able to answer for this calls. So the
amount of effort he admits determines his Fate.
