Hard riddle-What am I

They call me a man! But I'll never have a wife. I was given a body! But not a life. They made me a mouth! But didn't give me a breath. Water gives me life! But the sun brings me death. What am I?

The only thing I can think of is Mr. Potato Head but he has a wife... Mrs. Potato Head!

My first thought was that it was a river.... a body of water... the mouth of the river.. sun dried it up but more water keeps it moving and alive... But.. I haven't heard it called a man... except the old man of the sea!! Am I close??

The river has been dried by the sun, trees, flowers and sun dried by the sun, the crops were not the result by the sun. My English is not good results. There are many grammatical errors, thank your all thst it seems to me wrong.
