Are you an ebay power seller?

I am asking this question because I am a normal ebay seller but would like the status of ebay seller. I know what the requirements are to have this on your profile however, some of my items just don't sell. What are your tips to make sure every item you put up on ebay sells?

What I do is research first. I research what I'm trying to sell to see if there is a demand for the item. If I see a lot of the same item I'm trying to sell, all with 0 bids, I normally don't list that item. Or if I only see a couple of that item with 1 or 2 bids then I read their description to see what made theirs sell to see if mine is comparable. I am a power seller on ebay, because I had a lot of one item I kept selling and ebay sent me invitation to be one. Now I'm out the that particular item so if I can't keep up the number of sells, I guess they'll take that status away. But it was worth it. When I got my invoice they deducted 20% from my invoice. So I suggest if they send you a invitation to sign up, take it. Even if you can't keep it up, it's worth it while it lasts.

Thanks for the tips...until I get my business up & running properly again, I m starting to do what I did before & listing my unwanted products & with the profits, I will buy things to add to ebay.

Maybe she's in Mexico coz I've heard it's alot cheaper to live than in the States... Do you have any tips you can share on how you sold your items on ebay?

I'm not a power seller, just a regular seller here. To make sure every item I put up sells, I start all my items off at 99 cents. Except in rare cases of expensive items I'm selling. Not everything I'd ever put up has sold, but I generally do pretty well. I don't have any aspirations to become a power seller though. I just sell my old stuff and things I don't really want anymore. I don't have the time to start buying items in hopes of reselling them at a profit.

I guess I do the same as you but I have found with the things that I have tried to sell that certain things sell for me & certain things don't...but for others, it can be the complete opposite. I too have also started with ebay by selling my unwanted goods.

I am an ebay seller also. When I have things listed in my store, that have been there a while and are not selling, I go back and see which ones I could possibly offer free shipping on. Usually these are items that are not very heavy. I have also offered a deal with a 10% to 15% discount if they buy more than one item. One thing I like do several listings for similar items at the same time. People love to save money on shipping. Something else I do when I have a lot of items not selling, is to put them in a local consignment auction. I made $125 on the last one and it was all things that just were not selling for me. Just stuff I needed to be gone. I needed to get them out of my house and start some new items. Hope my ideas will help you out.

I notice when I'm buying on eBay that free shipping really does tempt you. I almost bought an exercise outfit that costs more with the free shipping than the one that did not have free shipping. It just looks so nice in the listing. Although, when selling I go for the 99 cent strategy. I do try to offer as low of shipping as possible though.

I may have to look at doing something similar to what you are doing. I have also been considering for a while if it would be worth my money to open a store there or not.

I will have to look at doing some of the things you do...I have also been debating over the past year or so whether it would be worth my while opening up a store there...do you find having an ebay store more beneficial than just selling?

I was a power seller for a couple of months, but just didn't have the time to keep it up. I guess the best answer I can give you is to keep listing items that are on the hot selling list on ebay, if possible. Timing seems to be the key to selling successfully on ebay. Selling back to school clothes just before school starts up again, is an example. Check the completed listings on a similar item you are trying to sell and see if it actually selling before you list it. Power seller takes a lot of time and effort, but it is definitely doable. Good luck to you and your ebay endeavors!

I will have to check out the hot selling list - I normally start off with selling the things I own that I no longer need that are in a really good condition or craft that I have made. Have you got any ideas to make the description more intereting?

I am not a sucessfull ebay seller , let alone being a power seller I have tried selling a few things but got nothing sold. Looks like 99% people only buy stuff from old sellers or those having 98%+ rating. i would have to find and ask a new seller who has started selling stuff and has been successfull.

It is difficult to sell if you don't have any feedback yet. Try buying items on eBay to get some feedback first. It really helps. A lot of my friends ask me to sell their stuff on eBay just because I already have a good rating since I buy and sell on eBay. But really anyone can get a good rating if they just do some shopping there. It will at least tell people you've been around a bit on eBay, some just look at the overall rating rather than making sure you've sold a lot. Hope that helps!

I guess I was pretty lucky there, when I started selling on ebay, my husband was given 2 brand new pairs of shoes that were way too big for him so I sold them on ebay & people just took a chance with me as I was a newbie. My thing for you would be either to buy some things first like you have already been advised or try to put a REALLY good description of your item & hope someone will take a chance with you like they did me.
