just like any other social networks, if you want to make money out of it then you have to attract the kind of people you are targetting. if let us say you have a blog that talks about cars then you look for people or groups in twitter that caters to this kind of product. befriend them, talk to them but do not sell! talk to them and know what they are looking for and if you have the answers to their problems then that is the time you offer help. another way is to put in the url of your website on your profile, blog about you blog on twitter. in other words, talk about what you know and what you have but do not sell!!! it is a turn off, be subtle. most bloggers commit such mistakes by being a hard sell. it will work for a very short while but what you want are valuable and loyal customers.good luck!
