The McAfee Virtual Criminology Report 2008 has drawn the rather sober conclusion that cybercriminals are using a perfect storm of severe economic recession, continued growth of social networking and a general climate of consumer anxiety to launch more effective and more numerous online attacks for their financial gain, a trend expected to grow in 2009.This they do by exploiting the global recession, by luring susceptible victims through the promise of easy money.
It has become a very disturbing issue withy no visible solutions in sight. And this have very negative affects on consumer confidence and thus dramatically hinder the pace of global economic recovery in 2009.

That is terrible. They always seem to find a way to make a profit for themselves or exploit others when the times are already hard enough on people.
