I'm freaking bugged. Do you think it's real?

There is this book which stated that when a person dies, his/her soul tears into two. One male and one female. Each part would go into an individual of the same gender...perhaps to a new life, a child that will be born in a minute or so. The soul can go anywhere, to any part of the world that it's destined to go, with no particular time, in no particular interval. And when the time comes, the two soul would meet again, and the two people would then find each other. There, soulmates as they are. Is it real? I'm freaking bugged by this. And I am amazed at the same time. Do you think it is, though?
