Jesus Says Sleep While Boats Rock

There was this furious storm rocking the boat where Jesus and his disciples were in. The disciples worried about dying, but he was sleeping (hihi!) He wasn't even praying (hihi!). Then they woke him up. Instead of saying, "Let us kneel down and pray," he scolded them and said something like, "You wake me up in the middle of a pleasant dream because of a storm?"
After commanding the winds and waves to "shut up" (still no prayer), he said, "You gotta have faith!" In other words, they should have just slept. I don't know about you, but if I were there, I would have joined the disciples, panicking like mad hens. Sleep?
You see, if they hadn't woke him up, he had no plans of stilling the storm or worrying over it. His plan? Sleep! To his mind, sleeping is better while the boat rocks, and storm is better than a quiet journey. And no prayers amid the rocking and the rolling!
Storms are "life's problems" and the boat is our situation in life. Jesus says sleep while boats rock!

When it was my first time to ride a boat in Donsol, Sorsogon to see live whalesharks, I was very afraid because of the waves and we're heading almost near another island. But when I thought of this Bible story, my fear suddenly vanished and realized that trusting God is hard but only the option left :-)

Hi lowlycook!
I think the disciples have missed something out there. Because of the danger that the squall have brought in their mind(fear), they forgot to remember that they have more powerful being in their boat than the storm, Jesus.
I would interpret the "sleep" action of Jesus here as being calm and cool in dealing whatever problems that will come into our life. Instead of panicking, we just have to stand still and trust the Lord fully.
Remember His word, "I will never leave you nor forsakes you".

when i was a baby i'm at peace and sleep when my mom craddles me and sing " rock-s-bye-baby"...i was comfortable because i belive that my mon was there watching over me. She only sleeps when i was asleep. Same wiht Jesus, He wanted us to feel and confident that He is there in times of troubles. When the ran started to fall, He was there giving us the umbrella of comfort and covers us from the cold drops of Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...but it's about learning how to dance in the rain...God bless!
