I like the scenes of the New York City which I only seen in movies, books or photos. Im glad that most of the movie setting is in New York City because I can see and explore the beauty of the city. I wonder why is it that most of the movie setting is in New York City. Maybe because it is the city that never sleeps and full of entertainments. Why is it that most of the movie setting is in New York City?

Hi, sweetjoann! Big cities is where the action is. Tall buildings in NY are great for a lot of great scenes in films. People in NY city are all around wherever you look so there's no need for them to hire film extras for $50 each. LOL I love NY. Great question!

I'm not really sure to be honest. At least I can't give you a definite answer anyway. But I imagine that likely one of the main reasons that a lot of movies, TV series, and novels use New York City as a setting has a lot to do with how recognizable the city is. After all, when you really think about it, New York City is easily one of the most famous and recognizable cities in the entire world.
I guess it's like London for England and Paris for France. When you think of a city for some countries, there is usually that 'one' city that almost always comes to mind for people, especially if they are not citizens of that particular country.
Of course, like I said, I can't say that's definitely a reason. But that's what I think anyway.
