national anthem singers

I always recall the time when Lea Salonga did the national anthem. That was how they should do it. Sarah Geronimo's was also good, Kyla I think did a slower march. Martin Nievera, though, had to alter the tempo and the notes by the end, that's why I didn't like it. It was too pop for me, and in my opinion he was more of showing off than singing the anthem out of respect for the flag.

sarah geronimo would be my pick. way way better than martin nievera's version. hey, did he got sued? I just think it wasn't proper.

Amongst all the artist that has sung in pacman's fights, Sarah Geronimo is still my favorite.. I believe, she's the only one who sang it in it's traditional way. Everybody sang it great but in an overacting kind of delivery which is sad. I guess, the artists are just really overwhelmed since it is an honor to sing the national anthem in an event where you know that a lot of people (from big shots down to the lower class) are watching. My nerves will surely freak out if I were in their position. It's weird that it's always an issue after one of pacman's fights... lol

My choice is Martin Nievera. He is good but the way he sang the National Anthem became controversial.

I like Kyla's performance better than Sarah. Sarah sang the anthem in a slower tempo than that of Kyla. And I really don't like how Sarah sings. Sorry to Sarah's fans.

I listened to the uploaded singing of our national anthem in youtube and I do think the younger singers did nothing but tried to copy the rendition of our older singers. The worst thing is, the older singers were singing "Lupang Hinirang" a la "Star Spangled Banner". Gosh, the US anthem is soft and melodious while we have a march song. Lea's uploaded version is the only one that stick to the original singing of the song. Kyla and Ciara Sotto's version came close but still a little bit slower. Christian Bautista's rendition would have been rated very good if only did he not short cut the song.

i think it was a fil-mexican who sang our anthem during the second fight with marquez. i am not sure though. i guess it is better to have singers living abroad or mixed ethnicity to sing the song so that they will be able to reconnect again to their roots. professional singers and stars from the philippines tend to over-sing it with their own version. i like it the way i know it.
