FINDLAY, Ohio – An Ohio teenager says he expects to be suspended from a Christian school for attending a public school prom with his girlfriend.
Officials at Heritage Christian School in Findlay had warned 17-year-old Tyler Frost that he would be suspended and prohibited from attending graduation if he went to the Saturday dance. The fundamentalist Baptist school in northwest Ohio forbids dancing, rock music and hand holding.
Frost says he went to the dance because he wanted to experience the prom and didn't think it was wrong.
School officials say he could complete his final exams separately to receive a diploma.
Frost's stepfather says the rules shouldn't apply outside of school and he may take legal action if Frost is suspended.
I think this is a little extreme what do you all think The boy should allowed to go to the dance this is 2009 not 1600

I don't think his School should have so much control over the kid's Life OUTSIDE their walls as to consider his suspension for going to another, DIFFERENT School's Prom outside of their purview with his girlfriend!(And what's with that, anyway? He has a girlfriend, doesn't he? The school don't allow HAND HOLDING? Do they have informers following him around and keeping tabs on the couple off campus, too?!) I could see their point (maybe) if they took issue if He got drunk, got into a fight,or got arrested at this other school's Dance,as it may reflect badly on them as He would likely be mentioned in the press as being their Student..But the issue doesn't seem to have any bearing on the kid's behaviour at the Dance, solely the fact that he WENT there..With his Girlfriend! Don't American Kids have a right to freedom of expression under the constitution?
Did he have to sign a contract on joining this school that He would abide by their rule 24/7,or face the consequences?
His Stepfather Agrees...Did He have a say in the Kid's placement at the school? Have others fallen foul of this ruling? I think the school should back down or face a court case..In Prison they can't keep control of an Inmate's behaviour 24/7,I don't know why a School thinks THEY can do it to their students!

I agree with you like I said before if his parents don't mind it should be ok for him to go one of the other articles I read was the step father talking about his son saying he was a good kid an stays out of trouble so if his parents trust him the school needs to back off i know when Harry Potter came out my daughter who was in4th grade at the time was reading it an i got a call from the school saying it was on the ban list of course I read the book to find out why I liked the book so when i asked the school they said its because Harry's parents got muruder in the book I had to remind them about certain classic slike oliver with the band of thieves an bill killing nancy an then getting hung yea my daughter read all 7 books no matter what the school said I think its time for some shcools to back down

FINDLAY, Ohio – A northwest Ohio teenager has been suspended by his Christian school because he attended another high school's prom.
Officials at Heritage Christian School in Findlay had warned 17-year-old Tyler Frost that he would be suspended and prohibited from attending graduation if he went to the public school dance over the weekend with his girlfriend.
Frost says he didn't think going to the dance was wrong even though his fundamentalist Baptist school Ohio forbids dancing, rock music and hand-holding.
Frost didn't go to school Monday. Instead, he and his girlfriend are heading to New York for a Tuesday morning TV interview.
The teen says he's now getting Facebook and e-mail messages from around the world.

Someone else has started a discussion here on this story, but posted a link to the article,(Thanks,Wonderlander!) which says He DID sign a waiver or something to the effect he would abide by the rules of the school, but again, this wasn't clear from the report if the rules were to apply elsewhere! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090508/ap_on_re_us/us_school_dance_flap
So it appears the School may have SOME justification for their actions, but I'd like to hear what this kid signed up for,and Did his Parents co-sign with him?!

Believe it or not, my cousin went to this same school. It is a VERY strict Christian school. I believe that they should let him wear that cap and gown. He worked for it. Not meaning to get religious but, doesn't the Bible say "Father, forgive him his sins?" I can understand that if he was at the beginning of his high school career but at the end? Teaching others through him? Burns my butt. ARGGG!!!!
