Well, I have been hearing about the benefits of writing and publishing articles. I have heard that associatedcontent is a good site to start. Have anyone of you tried it? I am thinking of writing some articles and publish it inorder to get a few backlinks and a few dollars too for publishing. Do these article directory sites pay use to submit articles? And do they put our website URL at the end of the article?
I have heard about all the ways to get backlinks. But article submission seems to be the best one to get backlinks. Now, I'm gonna get a article submission software and publish my articles. I've just signed up in associatedcontent. What do you guys say? Is it worth writing articles to get backlines? Do you guys have any experience? Btw, How much do they pay? Have anyone of you got paid?

I find it's vital to get those backlinks and when they are from a page that is relevant to the web page you link to it works wonders.
I write articles but I only ever publish to EzineArticles.com first. After they accept it, as they will reject it if they find it to be duplicate content, and publish it I then publish it to other article directories.
I like to modify the article a bit for the other sites and maybe play with the link text so they are slightly different.
I get tons of backlinks this way.

Hi Nokimchen, I have compiled a list of writing site under the interest group "writing", you may want to take a look and do some research. There are some sites that allow you earn extremely good income.
However, providing backlinks is not encouraged at AC, even though you can do so every now and then.

As Spike said they're actually two different things. Sites like associated content/ constant content etc pay you to put articles on their site (I think, I'm not a member of them so I can't go into much detail about it) but from what I gather you just write and article with no outside links etc. and if it's accepted you earn via the amount of impressions it gets etc.
However, sites like ezine articles/go articles etc - allow you to submit articles and put in an authors resource box at the end of each article you submit. In the resource box you can put in a link to your website/blog etc. This it a good way to get backlinks to your site/blog/forum/other article post etc as not only to you get the link from the article site you submit it to, other webmasters/blog owners etc may pick up your article and use it on their own site with your resource box so you get even more links back to your page.

Someone asked this just the other day, about which site is better: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2003597.aspx
You're confusing the article directories with a blog. They're totally different. You won't get a link from AC to your blog - it doesn't work like that - although I think you can list your URL in your profile.
The best way to use the directories is to blog about a subject and link to an article you wrote at AC (or similar site). Paid2Write told me about that one, I think - she has some cool tips!
If you want links, your best bet is to comment on other blogs. If you have similar content, tell them and hope they link back. Get some friends to Digg and Stumble your site, too.
AC do pay. Not much unless you're US-based and can get up-front. I've been paid every month by them (about $1 each month, lol).
