Thanks to everyone who gave me some advice about my dog last night! I didn't have time to reply because she started delivering the puppies shortly after I posted this! The first one had the sack break and the puppies face was hanging out, but we managed to get her to push it out. After that, she delivered five more puppies very easily and quickly! In the morning, we realized that she still had a hard lump in her belly, and suspected she might still have a few puppies. We took her to the vet, who x-rayed her and discovered there were TWO more puppies still in there! The vet gave her a shot to help her start her contractions again. Within a few hours, she delivered the two extra puppies very easily. The first one was frisky right away! We were worried about the second one, because she didn't seem to be moving or breathing, but was just opening her mouth without making sound. Our dog was not very interested in licking her. We worked for hours, rubbing the puppy down ourselves and trying to convince our dog to lick her! Finally she managed to breathe... but then she cried loudly for about an hour, very differently than any of the other puppies. We were worried that she might be sick. But guess what... now she seems as well as all of the other puppies! She isn't eating much, but she seems healthy, is moving around A LOT and really loves being held by us... I guess because we spent so much time with her cupped in our hands, trying to revive her! At any rate, all eight puppies are doing great, and so is the mama dog! Tomorrow when I get to my own computer, I will post pics! Thanks again, everyone! - Nicki

Yay! You are so brave--I would be terrified if my dog was having puppies! I'm glad they are all okay, I bet they are just adorable!
