There is nothing to eat in this house

How many of us have stood in front of the fridge or cupboards and made this statement? Is it that the cupboards are really bare? Or is it that we just hoped that we could wave a magic wand and the food network chef would quickly prepare it for us like magic.... Try explaining this to my 13 year old son who is "starving". We have everything from spaghetti and meatballs to the makings for tacos, chili cheese dogs, breakfast for dinner ( a favorite of mine) easy to whip up as well. Have we just become lazy or are we just spoiled and forget that they are many people in this world and in this country that go without a meal nightly. How do I convey to my son that we need to be thankful for each meal that is before us because we never know when it might be our last?.......

My kids are the same way...they will come home from school and expect to have food waiting or something. They are always saying how hungry they are..I tell them all the time they can wait till dinner because my kids won't finish their dinner if I let them snack in between. There is food in my house but I myself am guilty of opening the fridge or cupboards and complaining that there is nothing to eat and I am starving. It's not that there isn't anything in there its just that there is no snack type foods, they are all foods that I have to cook and I am too lazy to do that..plus most of it is foods that I can use for a full family type dinner so I rather use it for that then take a few bites and wasting it by giving it to the dog.
