Cheer Leaders

Like the last edition, cheer leaders were hired and you can see them dancing when a 4 or a 6 is hit. You can also see them when a wicket falls. Their outfit is skimpy and no doubt attractive. There is something I noticed. I see that the people who are crowding these cheer leaders are mostly Indians. Did you notice? We Indians don't get to see such scantily dressed girls here in India so it is natural that Indians who have the opportunity of visiting South Africa to watch the games wouldn't want to miss the chance of watching sexy, hot cheerleaders at close range. Hmmm........I might also do the same.

To me, the cheerleaders are a complete waste, an absolutely unnecessary addition to the game of cricket. In all the cricket playing nations, nowhere will you see these cheerleaders. If indeed the ICC (thru the BCCI) wants to draw in USA to cricket, it would have to do much better than just aping these girls from the sides of baseball games…and do remember, cheerleading is a matter of prestige there…its like a sport unto itself with a variety of performance and stunts and not just wriggling and shaking the waist. In schools and colleges, it’s also a matter of privilege to be on the cheerleading side of your favourite baseball team and girls go there not to show off their butts but to cheer their heroes and bfs…they are not mere mercenaries. Indians might ogle as much as they want but addition of cheerleaders has definitely been a very dumb decision.
