Terrorism Killer of humanity and a challenge of 21st Century

The region where I live was a peaceful abode for all its inhabitants. despite of having a low literacy rate all my people are extremly progressive, moderate and life loving. they have remained peaceful for decades and have never been indulged in any sort of inhumane activity. Unfortunately our cool valley has turned into a war zone now. We have become the victims of terrorism and extremism, this all transformation from peace to war just took 15 to 20 days. A couple of weeks ago about 200 militants infiltrated into my region and they started terrorizing the local people by showing off their heavy weapons, they took over all the governmental institutions and challenged the writ of the governmet. The government started a negotiation with them to leave the area and let the peace dwell there but they turned a deaf ear to the government and were demanding for the implementaion of a barbaric so called Islamic system in the region. Finally the government had to launch a military operation against them and thus the entire valley got overwhelemed by a situation of war. Almost all the local people have fled to safety from the strife torn valley, but they are living from hand to mouth because all their means of earnings have come to a halt now. Most of them have taken refuge now in some sort of relief camps constituted by the UNHFR and our government. As an ordinary citizen and a student I'm really confused now that how can I assist my people in this time of adversity? would you guys please guide me that what can be the best channels for me through which I can contribute to the rehab process of my militancy hit people....
