What instruments can you play? Or what do you want to play?

I have been taking piano lessons for just over two years now. The piano is my favorite instrument. It can be very simple to play yet had endless possibilities. I like a lot of other instruments- horns, violins, etc. I would play them if I could but they are too expensive for me right now. What's you favorite instrument, and what if any can you play? Here's a partial list to get you thinking: piano, guitar, horns, drums, flutes, violins, cellos, saxophones...

I have to say that I am quite an eclectinc musician. My main instrument is piano, that I've been playing since I was nine years old. When I was fourteen I bought my first guitar and now I own three of them: the old classic one, a nice acustic and a fantastic red electric one. Last year I finally bought a four string bass guitar that I really really enjoy to play, even if I know I'm not this high level... but the sound just attracts me a lot and after borrowing for a while a bass from a friend I wanted to have mine! Now what's next? Well, my house is quite crowded with instruments I also have a couple of bongo drum, a rainstick and some fancy wooden instruments, so I'll try to stay quite with new ones for a while. But when the quite is gone, I'd fancy to learn sax: it also sounds so good to me!

Eh eh eh, yes you are right. But what can I say? I just can't help it. Many people are fond of various kind of collectibles. My kind is musical instruments: you can't have millions and is a bit expensive sometimes but I assure that it gives a lot of satisfaction!

The first thing I learned to play was the handbells. Not something that is very common. But they are so much fun and make beautiful music! I have since learned to play the marimba and the saxophone. Im not really very good at either. Im not sure if I even remember how to play! It has been over 5 years since I have played either one! I have wanted to learn to play the guitar for a while. I even bought myself a nice guitar. A friend of mine in college was going to teach me to play. It never happened. Now I have a really nice guitar that never gets used. I dont have the time or money to take lessons. So I am seriously considering selling it. I dont think I will ever actually learn! I do wish I still had the opportunity to be part of a handbell choir. That was always my favorite.

Thanks for you response. Last time I was visiting family out of state we went to their country church. The kids did hand bells. I guess that was the first time I heard them. They sounded good.

I want to be able to play the piano firstly, and then the guitar but I find it hard to reach the notes and switch notes!! I can sing really well but its useless when you can't make the music.

I have an electric guitar at home. I should be playing it, but it's just sitting around. Guitar is my favorite instrument, and it would be nice to know how to play it.

Thanks for your response. There is an acoustic guitar at my house. However, one of its strings are broke an it has never been fixed. I would try to play it but every time I have I get confused, so I'm afraid I would need a few lessons to get me going, LOL.

I've played the piano for ten years by now - you just can't get enough of Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven, especially the more advanced ones that wowed audiences for ages. I used to the play the trumpet, but only at a concert band level.

That's cool. I don't think I've played anything from Liszt yet. Any suggestions for beginners?

I can play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and harmonica. At home I play the keyboard while singing. Outside the home more often I play acoustic guitar while singing.

Thanks for your response. I've never tried signing while playing the piano, but I'm not a good signer anyway, LOL.

I currently own 4 electric guitars, an acoustic guitar, a keyboard, and as korg calls it, a groove box. I have always wanted to learn to play guitar but never did, I now just have them as a collectors items. I keep telling myself I'll learn how to play one day. My microkorg synth keyboard is what I'm actualy learning to play, very similar to a piano but it's a very shortened version with only 25 keys versus the traditional 88 a piano has. I also have a korg electribe mx, it's like a drum machine and synth combined with a sequencer, lots of posabiltys there as far as music production goes. and it's pretty easy to play
