Are you a superstitious person? If so, what is one of your beliefs and why you beleive it.
If you are not, please tell why.
I don't think they are true, however there are a few things I will still do. It's just the way I was raised.
My mom always says to never ever put your purse on the floor. That it will bring you bad luck with money. Now, where she got this, I have no clue...But I won't put my purse on the floor. Not even the car floor. Always on a table, hanging or on a seat. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
What about you?

Hmmm..well I have to admit that yes I am superstitious. I own a business house, and I have to be one. It matters to me a lot for things that I do would it bring me luck or not. I yearn for that extra nudge, no harm i can see.
But the things that I follow aren't the conventional ones I must say, like I don't get intimidated by a black cat crossing the road before me, I don't believe in friday the 13th, but there are some others which are a bit like of secrets I would say. Hope you shall pardon me.
Yes, then again it is how you are raised and the values you learnt while growing up, maybe that how I became what I am now.
Excellent post.

Your fear of the number 13 is called triskadecaphobia (sp). I am not superstitious person. Most superstitions have a history to them. Like the black cat crossing your path, that comes from the days of the witch hunts as black cats were supposedly the witches familiars or the witch themself. I am sure we have all heard the one about spilling salt and throwing it over your shoulder to avoid bad luck, or not hanging a horse shoe upside down or all the luck will run out. Someone should create a website with all the old superstitions and where they came from.

I don't belive in superstitions. Our ancestors have a lot of supersitions when they're still alive, some of these are:
1. you should not sweep the floor at night for sweeping at night could take out the luck.
2.An empty rocking chair should not be rocked because it will bring bad luck to the family.
3. If somebody unintentionally dropped a spoon, there will be a child who will visit. If knife - a male visitor. If fork - a female visitor.
4. Cats have nine lives.
5. If you break a mirror, it will bring you seven years of bad luck.

not a highly superstitious one but some times i feel that some thing happens due to an action. few days earlier i refused my neighbor when he asked for my car as i was getting late for the college. he cursed me and i met accident. i was not harmed but the car was badly crushed. So there's a reason why i believe in superstitions. have fun!

I don't really believe in them much either, but I won't open and umbrella in doors, and I won't walk under a ladder. Not that I really believe something bad will happen but why risk it. I see no reason to do either one of those things so why do them if I don't have to.

Really? now i now i always have badluck lol i always put my bad and my purse in inside my bad and that is always placed by my feet on the floor or below my office table, there is not that much room in the office.. now i know i should have it on top of the table. lol
i am not superstitious but then my mom is very much. and at times it gets addictive especially when you hear stories of consequences if you wont follow it or something you get scared and rather follow it that not follow it and suffer. so get to follow it sometimes.
one of her beliefs is that when at night one should not be sweeping the floor for you will be sweeping bad luck or you will not cut your fingernails at night which i do not know what is the reason behind! it is pretty funny though lol

I am not superstitious person. In fact I am totally the opposite. Even though it is not really well known, but one of the safest days to travel is Friday the 13th. The question is why is it the safest?
With people who are superstitious, they won't travel on friday the 13th. This would mean that there would be less people travelling making it one of the safest days to travel.

no i donw believe in superstitious why? many times i have experience a black cat crossing in my way yet nothing bad have ever happen to me. i walk under the ladder still nothing. i believe only in GOD and i believe that there is no such thing as bad luck things happen becuase you make it happen or sometimes because GOD allow this to happen. for example. you are driving a car then a black cat cross your way you continue on your journey you try to beat a red light then bang!!! your car crashed is this happen because of the bad luck that the black cat bring no this happen because you are not following traffic rules and regulation this happen because of your negligence am i right or what
