I had my daughters dog Sam this weekend as her family made a trip for the weekend up North. These 2 were such babies needing all the attention and the other not getting it. Pet one and the other cried etc. Too cute and really funny to watch them. Have you ever dog sat for anyone?

Yes, I have. It was a family in my church, and they asked me to stay at their house for a couple of days and take care of the house, their dog, and their cat. So I did, and I was sitting on their couch, eating a nectarine I had brought with me, when their dachsund (Otto) jumped up beside me, and took the nectarine away from me! I never did get it back.

I have not ever dog sat before, but my grandmother when my oldest daughter was born baby sat my Sadie for me. My grandmother said my Sadie cried & would not eat or drink til I got home & sat by the window the whole 4 days I was in the hospital. I got out of the hospital & went straight to my grandmothers house to pick up my Sadie. The whole time I was in the hospital I called to check on her every day & my grandmother held the phone up to Sadie's ear so she could here my voice. I called 4 x's a day to check on her for it was Sadie that taught me all about real Love for something else. I loved her so much that when she passed away I could not bear to love another pup for 20 years, I loved Sadie so very much. She was AWESOME!!!

I used to always babysit my daugters dog when ever she went away for the weekend and she always looked after my little dog if I ever had to go anywhere. It's sure a good feeling knowing you have a doggie sitter when needed. I always think it's good for the dog as well they have feelings too.

Sam was a good dog to sit.
Well, except for the 2 HUGE areas he dug up in my yard.
Luckily no flowers etc were where he dug.

I have dog sat at a friend's house but never in my own with my own dogs present. Gus and Cookie are like that, though, you pet one and the other immediately horns in. If Cookie is on the couch with me, Gus will jump up and push her aside. Poor baby. But it's Cookie that curls close at night so I guess that might make up for it.
Dogs are a lot like toddlers!

Yes. Twice. I had to dog sit for a big male German Shepherd for my neighbours. The guy was ridiculously mean and just liked to sit on the couch and watch T.V. And no babies to play either...In fact, this guy made my Shirley pregnant. She is a happy mom, three girls and one boy. But our neighbours won't agree that it was their Jimmy that caused it. Anyway all I care is the babies and not the parent dispute.

Sam, my daughters dog walks without a leash and does well around other dogs. My beagle Buster runs every chance he gets so he needs a leash for his walks.

They hate being left out, don't they? I was in a discussion earlier on a similar subject and it's so noticeable how they seek attention when they think they're getting less than another dog. It's as though they're wondering what they did wrong, and they're sulking. I've never dog-sat actually, but I wouldn't mind, for a short while.
Brightest Blessings.

I often pet sit my friends dog Blinky...she is a little terrier of some sort and very cute. I don't know she is here usually...if she's inside she sleeps on my bed, if she's outside she finds a sunny or shady spot to sleep. She is good mates with my dog, cat and goats. Blinky has dinner with my animals every night as it's easier for me to feed everyone than it is for my friend.
Her owner looks in on and feeds my pets when I go to visit my Dad cos I usually stay overnight.

I just bet Buster was jealous of Sam and wanted to make sure you paid attention to him while his "cousin" was visiting..LOL It's great they get along though. Nope can't say I ever dog sat, but did bird sit a few times for a neighbor down the block when she would go away on vacations

I watched my bf's toy poodle for years. Ever time they went on a mini vacation I took care of him. I am sure he liked having the attention.

Hi Grandpa Bob
Yes, I have. I dog sat for our daughter's dog for a week before. It was interesting. I would give each dog a bone, (our and theirs) my dog was bigger so I would give her a bigger bone. I then left the room and did a few things, when I came back they had each others bones.

Awww that's cute grandpa Bob! They wanted your undivided attention! That's cute! We were asked to babysit a friends dog once but he changed his mind for one reason or another and you wouldn't believe the size of this dog if I told you! It was a HUGE great dane! I mean a HUGE one! Damned thing should've been named monster because he was just that! But he was a gentle one at that but I could guarantee you, no one would come near us if we had him around! lol He was about 100 times the size of my chihuahua! lol Imagine that!

I have never dog sat for anyone, but I have budgie sat recently!! I had my Mums budgie George while they went away, he was very noisy and wanted attention all the time and he speaks and was very naughty with his words at times! But it was fun having him.

I haven't dog sat before, but I have watched a cat for two months. My husband's aunt wanted to get rid of cat because the cat kept her up at night meowing. She wanted the cat put down, because she thought that if the cat was with someone else it would not be happy. My husband and I didn't want that done, so we had the cat for two months, before my husband's Aunt's Daughter decided to take the cat, she lives in Georgia and we live in New Jersey. So after two months Callie left our house and went to Georgia. I already have two cats, and trying to keep them separate was a bit much. My one cat Jake, likes to fight, and him and Callie had a few really bad cat fights. So, I would have a cat in the bathroom, a cat locked in the bedroom and one cat with the range of the rest of the house every time I left the house.
Glad your dogs got along well.
