Why do people read the gossip stories about famous people? There are so many books and internet sites where you can find out anything about famous people. Some people just can't get enough of reading it. What is so fascinating about where 'Famous One' goes on holiday, or what 'Famous Two' does with her dog. Of the set or stage, they are just normal people doing what others normal people are doing, or at least they try if they don't get stalked. Why are people so intriged by the doings of famous people? Are you reading all the gossip?

No I don't normally read it. I like to think I have other things to do.hahaha! I think because people read this, that makes the famous more famous. It is all commercialized. When people are no longer interested, there will be no famous people to read about. The famous will have less money and be like you and me. Gossip makes these people famous. Take care, have a nice evening.

I like what you say and I suppose it is the truth - Gossip make these people famous. Maybe that is why some are more famous than others, they create more gossip to attract more attention so they can be more famous and be considered for more roles. And then make even more money and become even more famous, etc, etc. WOW, that make good sense. Blessings

Personally i absolutely cannot stand gossip. Its not real and if it is, no one really needs to know how many time brittany spears had a break down or how many time lindsay lohan has been arrested. Its juts publicity.

peoples like the artist or movie star. they passionately like them. And like to know about their daily activities too. I remember back then a year ago. In my campus comes a famous asian singer, Nicholas Teo from Malaysia. Then many girls scream in my ear. Really I got stressed out at that time, I wonder If i have shotgun in my hand right now, I will shot all the screaming girls !!! They reallllyyyy annoying ya know !!!

i have no idea too. i have a little niece who's always into all these gossips and i don't understand why too. its like they have to read about other people's life instead of living their own. they look up to all these people for all the wrong reasons. but sometimes its a good thing to have an idol and to read about how amazing he or she does charity work or recycles may just get kids to start doing the same. so it really depends on whether its good gossip or bad gossip i guess.

I personally do not read the celebrity gossip. I dont really enjoy any kind of gossip. I have many important things in my life. I do not need to know what some rich celebrity is doing with all their millions.

You know, I have been reading People magazine on and off for years. It hit me about six months ago, how much they had turned the magazine into a gossip column. I know they have always done half the magazine on movie, music, or TV stars, but I'm talking about pure gossip. One cover story that was six pages long, was filled with quotes from "sources". No person actually involved in the story had been interviewed, and no one willing to share their name had commented. I still buy People magazine, but my enjoyment comes mostly from the latter half of the magazine. I was reading this week about how all of these micro preemie babies had survived when their parents were told they wouldn't. Every micro preemie baby had been born less than the size of a dollar! It is success stories like that, that I want to hear. Oh, and Entertainment Tongight, Extra...the "news" magazines? Cannot stand them.

I have absolutely no interest in what famous people are doing and I don't even bother to read any of these stories. I guess others are interested in those stories because of the fact that whatever these people do seem to be much more interesting than what we, the regular people do. But it is all the same. Personally, I find it a big waste of time to read about this. I have better things to do with the time in my hand and since what they do have no impact on my life, I just leave it to the ones who actually care about what some actor in Hollywood does.
