I think there is enough excitement on the job. You get to meet different kinds of people. You get the rich ones, the not-so-rich ones, the noisy ones and the clam-like ones. You can drive people to a happy occasion, a sad occasion or a business meeting. Best of all, I get to be in an airconditioned work area, just driving around the city.
I am sure cab drivers have their own difficulties, their own problems, especially financial ones. But if you do not count those, do you think you will enjoy being a cab/taxi driver?

My ex was a cabbie, he loved driving too. The problems that they have though are never ending. Even rich people rip off cabbies, drunks throw up in the cab, people are very rude, very nasty, really stoopid and some expect a cabbie to be a delivery man but don't give them any extra. One lady had purchased lumber and paint and my man had to take them up some steps to get access to the house...she did not direct him to the vehicle access because it was around the block. He had to do 4 trips to unload and carry all this stuff up the steep stairs...it took him about half an hour...he could have been driving another fare somewhere...and the bitsh didn't even tip him or say thankyou. He was so angry and upset when he got home.

I agree to them that it is dangerous job. Many taxi driver are victim of hold-up and robbery. Sometimes they get killed for refusing to give their earnings. You meet a lot of people and you can go to different places. I don't know how to drive but I think driving is fun. I heard a lot of complains about them some are not honest and over charge their customers.

I was a cab driver, in the early 80's, for Salinas, California. I had horrible night vision though, and got into too many accidents, so they put me on Day Watch ...
... and made less money than what I was taking in.
Maybe it would have been different in an actual city, like New York, or San Francisco - who knows?

I have always toyed with the idea of becoming a cab driver but my mom said it's dangerous and all that, what if a robber is to rob you and etc. I do feel her there, but at the same time, like you've mentioned, there is a sense of adventure in a way. Meeting lots of people, learning about different people, going places, discovering destinations that you might have not gone before and many more. But I suppose rent issue can be a problem if one is not earning much for cab fare. The other thing is I've heard lots of cab horror stories which can also be possible especially when picking up customers late at night.
And also when you are given a destination that you don't really know how to go about. That can be embarrassing, LOL. I've talked to one cab driver before and he said he's earning 2k plus just for one month. *Slow whistle*, not bad, eh. I'm still toying with the idea. I can get my cab license here in my country once I reach 30 or 30 plus. Hmmmmp, and I'm getting there in a couple of years.

I actually at one point considered trying to become a cab driver. I'm good at directions (when it comes to the city I live in), I'm a people-person (for the most part), and I actually enjoy driving other people around (as strange as that seems). The only issue is that I think it could be a dangerous job; and I've heard of a lot of people who leave without paying - and there's not really anything you can do about it. And keep in mind that you're not truly "meeting" new people; you're merely driving them around. But I think it would be an interesting job, to say the least.

I'm agree with your ideas,It is their own difficulties.all most of drivers can not do any things while they are on work.they would be trapped into the trouble of fat.because they have no spare time to walk freely.they must be waiting in their own cars.
