If ‘time’ stops for half-an-hour, What will be your reaction?

Though it is a hypothetical situation and it may never happen in reality, but just imagine if time stops for half-an-hour during any time of the day, what will be your reaction? Will you go uneasy or start feeling restless when you happen to see that the hands of clock are not moving and your cannot move ahead with your scheduled activities or will you take it as blessing in disguise and will try to complete as much tasks as you could do in half an hour’s time? Thanks in advance for your imaginative response.

Hello dpk......Well intersting question..I suppose when the time stops when I am doing some thing good or enjoying something ,it will really be a blessing in disguise......Infact there are some moments in life when we do feel that time would really stop moving, though your meagre allowance of half an hour is not actually a bonus..Its actually Kanjoosee Dpk...... But there are other times, especially when things are not going right,or when I have some important appointment or plans and if time decides to come to a full stop inadvertently for half an hour it will surely put me in a fix.....

Hi! Rose! How are you doing? I fully agree with you that it will all depend upon the situation, if we are enjoying at that moment, when the time stops, then it is all the more good and if we are pressed for time and we see that the clock is not moving, we will get restles. I liked your to the point response. Thanks for sharing and dropping in.

I dont think I would notice this extra half hour because I hardly look at the clock. May be an extra day would be better. We are so busy with our lives nowadays that we hardly notice the time. Anyway an extra half hour everyday that could be spent relaxing is always welcome.

Hi! Maykya! Please do not remain too busy to miss the actual 'time'. You should keep yourself aware about the 'time' and if you find that it has stopped suddenly just check, if it was clock's fault or 'time' has really come to standstill. Thanks for dropping in.

Well these last two months I have been guilty of not being aware of the time and have ended up sitting in office later than 7 pm and at times later than 8 pm. Have to keep myself alert and aware of the actual time!!!

Interesting Deepak but I do not think, much would change with my flow of life with that half hour extra. as you know, time passes slowly and steadily without much variations in my life I would probably not even realise! and if I do half hour is too small a time to realise the difference. Had it been one day, I would have watched some beautiful inspirational films that would be elevating and life changing for me. I have been ling awaiting to watch them. Thanks.

OK, I got it now. I will get bit curious as to WHY. Anything abnormal in the daily routine stricks you and in this case i would think that the clock has gone wrong. mat be go and see the time in another and another...But if I come to know that time has come to a standstill, I would not frown rather would be amazed and later try to catch every snippet of the reasoning behind. Good topic!

Hi! Mimpi! What you have stated is absolutely right and I buy your argument that we remain too busy to check out for time, the flow of our activities is such that we forget to check if the last half an hour has passed. But imagine the sitiatuion, if the clock is not moving at all, e.g. you have to leave at 8.00 a.m. sharp for your office and the hands of clock have stuck on 7.30 a.m., would you not feel restless and may think, "Oh! God, I've t leave at 8.00 a.m. and the clock is standstill, when will it start moving. Many thanks for sharing your ideas and for a very thoughtful response. + Rated. dpk P.S. - Let me please check if you can be allowed one extra day to watch movies and moview only.

If time stopped for half an hour, so would we, my friend. It's a scary thought, but I fear we wouldn't know a thing about it, as I don't think we'd be aware of it. Therefore, there's no real way I can answer that question, but it's a thought to be conjured with. Brightest Blessings.

20 May 09
No, my friend. That's not what I was trying to get over at all. I wouldn't feel scared or anything because if there were no time, or if time stopped, then we wouldn't be conscious of it... full stop. We wouldn't breathe, exist or anything because time stops everything, life's cycle, nature, movement, you name it. We just would cease to exist during that half hour.

I would never know the "time" has stopped for half an hour. It is too short to be noticed as I never look at the time when I am engrossed in anything. It would be good if the time stopped when I am asleep. At least I get an extra 30 minutes of sleep.

Hi Deepak, So you are going to provide an extra half an hour for your friends. So nice of you, but if you provide this facility on this Sunday onwards then it is ok, otherwise I don’t need the facility and I may get irritated (lol). On Sunday onwards even one hour is acceptable. If you ask my reaction to get half an hour more, oh half an hour is there so I can do my work slowly. There is a request, if you can provide the time in between 5.30 AM to 6.00 AM then it will be very nice (so that I can sleep some more time). Thank you very much for the interesting post.

Hi! Sree! No, I neither have the powers or authority to provide you half an hour's extra time on any given day nor I am going to do it. Actually, we remain too busy to check out for time, the flow of our activities is such that we forget to check if the last half an hour has passed. But imagine the sitiatuion, if the clock is not moving at all, e.g. you have to leave at 9.30 a.m. sharp for your office and the hands of clock have stuck on 9.00 a.m., would you not feel restless and may think, "Oh! God, I've t leave at 9.00 a.m. and the clock is standstill, when will it start moving. " Many thanks for your response.

I know deepak your question was a hypothecated one and I replied like that for fun. If I came late in the office and I can say the reason for my late coming is as my clock is not moving, definitely I will get a new clock from office (lol). In reality, the time is running so fast and if the clock stops for half an hour, I don’t think anybody notice it.

it would all depend on the situation.if i was doing something interesting or watching a movie or a song,(music)the half an hour delay wouldnt matter but if i was doing something boring like waiting in line to pay of a bill.the time not moving would bother ma very much.

Hi! Riya! I fully agree with you that it will all depend upon the situation, if we are enjoying at that moment, when the time stops, then it is all the more good and if we are in trouble and waiting for somebody, we will go restless. Nothing imaginative Deepak but it would depend entirely on what I am doing at that moment. If I am sleeping, well I’ll be glad to get some extra sleep, if I am on vacation somewhere, I would be glad of time going slow…if I am on a picnic and enjoying the day, similarly, I would want time to extend itself. But if I am at office, I would tear my hair if time was to stop for even one minute

Hey Deepak ! To tell you the truht Ithink I may not BE aware that time has stopped for half an hour.[ON NORMAL DAYS]The clock in my room does not show proper time frequently;[hehehe'] and many a time I have thought otherwise'OH ! half an hour has gone'.Similarly if the clock is fast too I would feel happy thta 'ah ! there is a lot of time ;I can finish this now',. SO this would be my reaction.I won't keep looking at the time evry now and then and sometimes I would just get immersed in whateverI am doing at that point of time. I would tend to be dreamy and think 'Oh the clock has been slow today But a very interesting discussion and you are going to have many wonderful responses I am rating your discussion a positive for this.

HI Deepak! To your question if there is a party and then what would be my reaction, I would think in the following manner-- 'Time has been standstill for half an hour 'and so there would be general delay that is all.If it has stopped for me then it has stopped for the party host too.It is time thta has come to a standstill for half an hour and not my clock.

hi deepak, Just Half an hour will not make much differnce I think.......yes if this time stops in the middle of the work that you don't like or when you are in hurry to leave office and time does not move........surely we will get very irritate. It will be like sudden failure of electricity, of sudden failure of water supply........ that upsets everything.......but I hope nothing like that happens.....not even when you are enjoying any happy moment....... because that may spoil your habits.......

Hi deepak, why only half an hour? i wish we could put the clock back several years LOL Frankly with the kind of lifestyle we are leading, I don"t think half an hour is going to really make difference or for that matter not many would notice it, because every body is so immersed in his her own day today problems. But if I am told about it then I would be happy and excited because it is something different happening in my life ...

Hello my friend dpk262006 Ji, I think, it is just an absurd idea that time will ever stop. let's not imagine, which is beyond our scope. In case suddenly my watch stops, I will just walk to watch-reparer I won't be dreaming taht time has stopped. No one will ever think. Let's live positive ways. As it is many things are happening unwanted, why to add another feather to our problems. May god bless You and have a great time.

You see sometimes absurd or unimaginable events happen in this world. It appears to me even thinking about it i.e. time is going to stop, giving a chill down to your spine and you are apprehensive, if anything like this happen. It is a hypothetical question, does not matter, if you did not like the idea. Thanks for joining us.

Firstly this is not possible and if it does then I will feel disgusted. Because life has a flow in time and if time stop life will also stop. Everything we do, we do in time and if they time stop then there will be nothing to do. Again if it is possible to do something for me then also there will not be other people around me because they will also be immobilized as the time stop. So it would be come very difficult to pass that half an hour and I will feel disgusted.

Arkasen! This is the very response which I was expecting in response to my discussion. You get full marks for your realistic and wonderful response. You are on th dot, if time stops, it will surely make us uneasy and restless and those who believe in 'activity' would not like to remain immobilized. Disgusting is the correct feeling, which will come our way, if 'time' suddently stops for half an hour. Many thanks for being the first respondent and for very thoughtful response. + Rated.

It would totally depend on what i'm doing at that time Deepak. It may so happen that i'm so engrossed in something that it would totally escape my notice. Then if it was a normal day where everything is going as per the way it should then i suppose i would not make much of a difference. But if it were to stop when i was pressed for time then it would be welcome.

If it is the day time I will start worrying about my daughter in her class room contemplating how big a bore it will be for her to be in the same period for another thirty minutes. And as I am very punctual by nature I will be at a loss how to react to this frozen or wasted thirty minutes. It is neither a long period to make use of nor a short period to ignore.

If i was at home here infront of the computer, i'd take the time to get a bit of work done. If i was at the coffee shop, I'd have another cup of coffee, and if i was with my husband at the time. we'd "act like newlyweds" for another half an hour, and probably even longer! :)
