Are Blogs a source of income?

Blogs -- A creative mind with a writer's flair can come up with wonderful blogs. Here on mylot which gives an opportunities to earn with discussions and images along with tasks, do we have the same opportunity with blogs too. Are blogs counted in out participation earnings. Do the blogs we write increase the count of posts. Please help me with this! And if it does not pay, do you think it will be a good idea?
