Colorful User Names

I find it interesting that so many people on the Internet use a specific color in their user names. This is true here on myLot as well as many of the other sites that I frequent. I suppose we all have favorite colors, but some of us actually take it to the next level, ie., they must have everything in their favorite color.I must admit that I have gone through phases where I became somewhat obsessed with a certain color - I call them "periods." I remember that many years ago I went through a brown period. I got a wake-up call when I discovered that three-fourths of my wardrobe consisted solely of shades of brown! I have also gone through red, blue and pink periods. Has this ever happened to you? Do you tend to overuse a certain color?

I can actually say I'm in one of those phases where black and silver are my favorite combination of colors, with some blue in the mix. I was once actually thinking of dying my hair black, and then dying the bottom layer dark blue at the tips.

Black with dark blue on the tips would look really cute I think! I saw a girl the other day that had black hair with bright red tips and her friend had black with bright purple tips!

Colors(or combinations thereof), BishounenNerd, inspire us either in a positive or a negative manner. My high school colors were red and black and I really liked that combination back then. Now, however, I don't so much. You should go with the choice of hair colors.

I probably have 66% of my wardrobe in shades of pink. I like any color pink to magenta but I cannot stand red. I don't buy pink pants of any type because I was told once that they looked horrid and I sort of agree. I pink and lace and things very feminine. I think that pink is very flattering to anyone. Do you think that colors denote your personality to some degree and as you go through changes your favorites change? I wonder.

Colors are absolutely an insight into our personalities, celticeagle! Just look at how we associate certain colors with individuals. Johnny Cash was known as "The man in black." One of my former screen names was "ladyinred," taken from the movie. Color is so descriptive that it affects nearly every area of our lives. Some famous artists had notable "periods" signified by a particular color they used at the time.

Isn't it interesting? I think it would be so very sad to be blind and not see all the color in everyday life.

When I was little I loved red. I had a all red bedroom. Red curtains, bedspread , even a red carpet but when I got to be about 17, I fell in love with blue and I haven't changed my favorite color ever since.I picked my avatar because it is my favorite symbol with a blue background.

I believe, sarah, that our choice of favorite colors in a particular phase of our lives is very telling about our emotional growth. That isn't to say that people who prefer a color throughout their life doesn't grow; just that they are steady and true.

I got to thinking about what you said and my closet is full of dark blue, some red, I guess if you go to buy clothes you buy the color you like the best, I am going to try to buy some different shades, red, green, pink, etc. You never think of these things till someone mentions them.

You are right, bdugas, we do tend to do things automatically. We often don't notice what is right in front of us. Adding a few items of color or brightness would certainly spice up your wardrobe a bit.

As you can see by my "colorful" user name I LOVE purple! When I was a teenager and even into my early twenties my favorite colors were purple and black, then I too woke up and noticed that about 9/10 of my wardrobe was black and I needed a change! I then decided to drop black and just stick with purple! My wardrobe now is many different colors, not just my favorite. I can honestly say that only about 1 or 2/10 of my wardrobe is actually purple! For my wedding my colors were purple and silver. They look so pretty together so I guess silver would be my 2nd favorite! I came up with this user name though because I LOVE purple and I LOVE teddy bears

I put 2 and 2 together some time ago, Purple, and came to the conclusion that you must really like the color purple as well as teddy bears.I also like teddy bears, and had a nice collection of the stuffed ones until I decided to start giving them away to kids a few years ago. Now I am down to only 3, my valentine's teddy bear and a cute one I received from my daughter last Christmas. Your choice of wedding colors sounds delightful!

Yes, this has also happened to me. For a certain period of time, I became obsessed with the name/color "lilac" without even knowing what the color actually looked like. I asked my dad what lilac color look like and he told me it was a different shade of blue or purple, and then one day, while he was taking his vitamins, he realized that the color of his pills were lilac and he showed them to me and told me that it was the color of lilac. I was disillusioned. The color made me dizzy for some weird reason and from then on I stopped obsessing :))

I think lilac is a lovely color, caffeinedrunk, but it's a matter of opinion. I can't honestly say that there is any one color that I don't like. I do some painting and find that all colors have their uses.

I can get this way with various colors of blue. I had blue cars for many years and then decided I liked silver much better so the suv I drive now is silver. As far as clothing, so many told me to wear red because of the color of my hair and eyes. Do have a few red tops that I wear on a regular basis. I like clothing that's comfy primarily without a collar so the color isn't as important to me as feeling comfortable and cool. Don't have any user names with the color blue. Stick to the pretty basic names.

I would not think so, until I look in my closet. I have a lot of olive green, khaki green, or otherwise dull green clothes. Then we move to lime green clothes. Then you look at my avatar here and the green glass. Funny thing is, I would tell you my favorite color is blue, or turquoise. I just happen to have some pretty neat clothes in those off green shades. I am mostly a cool color person.

Sometimes, GG, we don't even know that we favor a certain color until it is pointed out to us. One of my daughter's favorite color is green and she's known for it. We always take this into consideration when buying gifts for her.

I have gone through a phase of wearing clothes that are dark and then I have a few that are blue and also pink. I guess it all depends on what mood I am in and how comfortable the clotes I am wearing feel also.

I think dark colors are very nice, Shaun, but a wardrobe should have a mix of other colors to balance it out. I agree that our mood often guides us in what we choose to wear.

I used to wear a lot of black...it suited me. Somehow the colour black and I brought each other to life if you can understand that. I've also worn reds a lot. Now white suits me well and I wear lots of navy and purple as well. Brown is a colour I can rarely wear...except for a donkey brown. On me it just looks dull and it makes me look dull - dull and lifeless and boring.

lol. Definitely so, I think. Most of my poetry is as well. Depression has haunted me most of my life which is probably why. Its a side of myself I have learned to live with and I have made a conscious effort to force the sunny side out every once in a while.

Maybe there's a touch of the Goth in you, Aurone.I think that we all have a bit of a dark side, but we don't all let it show. My dark side used to come out in my choice of clothes, but I've transferred it to some of my writing in recent years.

Blue is also my favorite color, duoxie, and it seems to be a large favorite for many people. I really like the variety of shades of blue.
