OK Mylotters, I was wondering if you have a special secret place in your home that you hide your favorite food in, or when you cook something you hide part of it so you can get some of it when you want it?
In my home of three grown boys and my husband I never get to have a cookie, a piece of pie or cake whenever I want one because my family eats all in one day. I swear it is like feeding an army in this household. My boys of 18, 19, and 20 and my husband is 47, so when do boys/men stop growing??..lol. Never!!
Anyway I have a hiding place in my home that no one knows where it is, in fact it is a bug joke in our family because they know I have one, but they have not been able to find it now for 11 years, ever since I came it with it.
It is funny when several days later after all the homemade cookies, cake or pie or whatever it may be is gone, and they walk in a see me eating a piece of it, there eyes search the kitchen to see if I made more then it dawns on them that Mom had some stashed away in her secret place, and then they get jealous because they want some.
So do you have to hide food in a secret place??

I have to say it's so funny to hidding food in a secret place.I used to hide Lay's potato chips and fruits in my university dormitory. If i didn't put them in right place, they would disappeared when i came back again.
However, what i must say is it's not lovely habits.
it's another story.when i was young, the food and snacks were the biggest temptation to me.But,my mother always hid the snacks in a secret place, where i couldn't find or reach, which hurt me deeply.Of course,i forgive my mother, because she hid the food just for my sake.

It is nice that you can see she did it for you and not to hurt you and you are able to forgive. Thanks for sharing and Happy Mylotting!!

I don't hide any kind of food, but it's an idea to consider with my fiance and his mom! I don't know what it is with them, but they devour sweets as if they've never seen them before! I can get a gallon of icecream, and it's gone in two days.

We do! We hide stuff in our room usually in a laundry basket with clean laundry in it of course ;) Otherwise I hide candy in my drawers if need be.
I know how it goes when you have to hide everything or they'll either inhale it OR have massive meltdowns until they get their "fair share". We have to hide soda that way too, the behavior just goes downhill because they can't accept just one cup of soda ect. SO if they can't accept just one cup they get NONE!

Wow! You sure know how to hide things and that’s a great gift I think coz I never know where to hide anything so securely.
Anyway, coming to the discussion well right now NO, I don’t need to hide food but previously when I used to stay with my inlaws for 10 longs years, I had to stash away light food coz I would feel so hungry at odd times. Its not really like hiding but you know, its not always possible to buy in huge quantities for a family of seven from my own pocket all the time. There used to be this monthly budget and my FIL would do the monthly grocery shopping so the amount of biscuits or snacks or other munchies available would be limited, you know so that everybody could have them at a specific time say, tea time or evening! That was the system of that house and everybody stuck to it but I would be so hungry…being an only child at my parents house, I could eat anything anytime. Anyway in my in-laws house I really felt odd to put my hands into the biscuit tin or take out some munchies when nobody else is having them so I would buy extra for my personal use from my own money and keep it in my room.

My main problem is my grand daughter, she is 15 and lives just a few houses up the street, she is always here. She is a water drinker, and I buy a casee of water at the first of the month. She will run in the door and get a bottle, and out she goes. Now I don't care that she gets the water and so glad that she would rather drink that than cokes, but I will go out on the patio and find the bottle half full sitting out there. This tells me she was thirsty and didn't intend to drink the whole bottle. Then if she comes back a few hours later she don't go get that bottle but a new one. So we started putting it in the hall closet. If she don't see it in the refrig, she don't ask just figures we dont' have any. I don't begrudge her having anything we have but I expect her to drink it or at least bring the half bottle back in so if she comes back she can get it again.

I think this is a smart idea, and I do not think that you are begrudging her anything. I have that rule in my home that is you open it you better finish it.

I love to cook for my family and see them eat and be happy too, but after I spend all day preparing and cooking I would like to have some it when I am hungry for it without having to cook all day again.

Yes, when I was a child, I used to hide food in my cabinet. Sometimes I hide food because my parents don't want me eating junk food or sweets too often. Sometimes, I hide food which I get from the pantry or kitchen because my siblings always eat that food first and never give me any. Those were really fun childhood memories. When my parents found out, they were amused and kept laughing at my silly antics. Nowadays, I don't hide food anymore.

That's funny. Nope, can't say that I've ever been in that spot. I'm so not fussy when it comes to what I eat that if I go to get something and it's gone, I just find something else. My girls have done this tho just to make sure there is some of a certain snack available when they want it.

In our house, we don't have a hiding place for our food.
I can't really hide any foods because the moment my brother
and sister saw the food it will be gone with in few minutes.
So, we just devour all the food in one setting.

Whenever I cook special food, I would love to see my family eating and enjoying them. I never keep any food I prepare from them. Even other food that buy outside, it is my pleasure to share and see them enjoying them.
However, there is one thing I always hide from my only son. It is chocolate bar. This is because he has allergy on chocolates but could not be stopped form eating whenever he sees one. He'd get cough whenever he eats chocolates. I wish I will not buy chocolates anymore so my son will not get enticed to eat at all,but I love chocolates so much and could not resist it as well. So whenever I buy, I'd hide them in the vegetable compartment of my refrigerator.

i don't like hiding foods. i usually do buy enough for what i can eat for about two days in the ref. and some snacks. i don't consider them as hiding from others. what i buy is for the family. so whether they want it, they just cant find it there inside grocery cabinet.

OMG I think your living my life. LOL. I used to get so mad at my husband when I would buy something special for my self and then go to have it and its gone. I would ask him why and his excuse has always been that it was there forever and he thought it was gonna go bad. Now I no longer leave my special treats at home. I take them to work with me and if I want them for home I bring them home with me at night when I come home. I only have my husband and daughter not 3 boys but the way that my 2 eat I feel like I am feeding an army. LOL. Any way I have to find a spot to stash my candy bars before my husband gets up and finds them or my daughter finds them and eats them all. Good luck to you I hope they never find your secret stash.

I do like this. There are two cases I will hide my food in a secret place. Sometimes I just consider for my daughter's health. she likes eating too much. Afte she comes back from school, she may eat many things constantly until no food in her sight. I know her well, I am afraid that too much diet is too bad for her health, so I always hide some food in a secret place. I just put some on the table. Sometimes I buy a lot of food from the supermarket, but generally I don't let her see them of all, otherwise she will eat them all in a short time and then feel stuffy or uncomfortable. I just want her to eat them gradually. Of course, occasionally I hide food for myself because they are my special favourite. But I just hide a bit little; most of them will be eaten by my daughter and husband.

I live on my own right now, so I don't have a secret place. However, my mom does. With three girls in the house, any and all chocolate would disappear in an instant. Mom always kept a little stash hidden somewhere in the kitchen. Eventually, we would find the stash, and Mom would find a new hiding place. I think right now she's stashing in one of her dresser drawers...

I remember used to do it when all of us (siblings) were very small. But now it is contrary, my brothers dont simply eat even if I prepare it for them. I don't need a hiding place these days.

My fiance always hides his work lunch food way up high on a shelf LOL . He thinks I want it or my brother and his girfriend . Not true we dont care really because its not that great like $ store chips, and cookies , and pop . I know I have to hide my diet food ( those 100 cal packs from my one friend ) When growing up i never got leftover pizze because my bro would eat it so i would hide it in the crisper in the fridge wraped in tin foil .
AHHHH those were the days .

Haha that is smart. They should learn to cook instead of relying on you to always have their food for them. I live with three women (two sisters and my mom) and my dad, and don’t have to hide food like I used to. I think all the women have become more conscience of their weight nowadays so things don’t get eaten as fast as when we were in high school. Still though, my boyfriend’s mom is a culinary chef and is always sending me home with delicious brownies, banana pudding and gourmet chocolates-those go fast even if I have my name on them. So I have hid brownies and chocolates in my drawer before.

I don´t, anymore as I libve alone. But when the kids were little I had to hide a piece of cake so my husband would have his share when he arrived from work. The same thing happened when they grew up and left home. I always bought olives and other goodies for company. If the girls came for a visit they would disappear. So I put half at hand and half hidden. I thought that was fair.
