Whenever either of my two kids leave home, to school or to go out with friends, or for some business transactions or for leisure, I silently bless them. I have been doing this ever since they were children. Now that both are adults, aged 23 and 26, I still do it, even without them knowing it. And when I leave our house with only our househelp left, I also silently bless our house. Well, it has already become a habit of mine, and it keeps me from worrying especially at night. I have a good night sleep even if my kids are still out. It's like trusting God to take care of them. Unlike my husband who stays awake to wait for them! What about you, do you have some peculiar habits which are more or less the same as mine? What do you think of it?

There can't be anything wrong with it, it's just an extension of parental love and concern. I know a couple that bought their kids St. Christopher medallions the first time they stayed away from home, but it doesn't have to be that obvious. I think we all have a faith invested in our children when they are away.

I say the same kind of silent prayers all the time for example whenever I drive away in my car I always say a prayer asking for protection for whoever is in the car and the car itself. I would like to think that it is not all that uncommon. I think it really helps to surrender whatever is worrying us to God. I don't know...I don't think it's peculiar at all!
