Is most laptop nowadays without the phone port?

A question here. A friend of mine just bought a new laptop computer. He doesn't have DSL connection, or a router installed at home. He only has dial up. Can he connect his dial - up, a phone jack to the laptop computer to receive dial - up signal? He seems couldn't find the phone port for the phone jack on the laptop.
