There is perhaps no greater failure among professed christian than the man who tries to face both ways, who keeps theirs eyes on heaven and on earth. Who professes adherence to the Lord Jesus Christ, while at the same time he is a slave to to carnal passions and covetious love of the world. Such a man is trying to cheat both God and the devil, and in reality he is only cheating himself. It is important to be steadfast in our christian life. As the bible states you cannot serve God and mammal, either you love the one or hate the other, but we have to choose. Because God is a jealous God and will not share his glory. All honour and glory is due unto his name. There is no other God like the true and living God. He deserve all honour and glory. Our praise should be unto him and him alone. If we failed to choose then we will pay the penalty, because God gives us a chance to change our mind, and walk according to his ways, and if we failed then we have to pay the consequencies.

Your right willy, Man can not serve God and Mammon ( Money). Is it wrong to want to be successful and make money to support your needs. No. It is the love of money the lust of worldly things before Serving and Loving God, that is wrong. God takes care of his children and meets their needs it may not be everything that one seeks after. But we are provided for and in everything give God praise. Like Paul I have known abasement and to abound (not filthy rich though) and in it and through it all I give all honour and Praise to Jesus the author and finisher of my faith.

We have to put our faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot put our faith in money and we have to give to God a portion of what HE gave us, 10 percent or what we make because the Earth and all that is in it belongs to HIM. It does not mean that we should worship poverty, but money has to be put in its proper perspective as a use to glorify God. But when one decides to get money illegally, or is greedy, and does not work for it, is wasteful, and covetous he dishonors God. If one is faithful, God will give us more then what we need or if HE decides to not grant us material wealth, HE will give us the ability to manage on what we have.

Well said willy. The sooner people who claim to be christians realise this the easier their lives will be. I have been a victim of that, trying to serve both God and mammon and that never worked our for me.. in fact I was worse off than a non believer. But when I decided to choose God, he's never let me down. You are right that all honour and glory belong to him. There is no other God like our God, creator of the heavens and the earth. He so deserves to be praised everyday. Cheers for that reminder and God bless you for that.
