BEEN THERE!! I have always scorched all purpose flour in a pan and let it cool and apply it to your baby's bottom, but I would try to keep him as dry as I could to also help. Be sure not to use Self Rising Flour though...it has salt in it and will set his bottom on fire.

One thing is a baby teething and another issue is a sore bottom. Teething will produce pain in the gums. If the baby stands cold, rub some ice. Get a hard rubber toy to help him cut the gums. In my country there´s an algae we give babies to chew. They are hard and have lots of iodine so it serves two purposes. As fotr the bottom, some children have more delicatre skins. My eldest daughter was like that. I started to use olive oil in her bottom and changed diapers very often. At my time we didn´t have disposable diapers so I changed her, hand washed the almost clean diaper and put it to dry at the sun.

you can try cornstarch to help dry up the redness and irritation. also if you know what a dirtdopper is you can cruch thier nest and use the powered for sore bottom. In teething I always gave my kids a wet washcloth to chew on sometimes with and icecube inside1 Hope this helps you some!

I can't really speak from experience because I don't have kids but I do have a nephew the same age as your little guy. My sister gives him frozen hot dog buns now and then (under strict supervision of course!) and they seem to help with the teething a bit. I guess they're cold enough to freeze his little gums but they have enough give that the biting feels good as well. Plus they have a taste to them and he seems to like that and the neat texture. It does get a little messy though and you definitely have to make sure he doesn't bite a big piece off!

For the pain of teeting Baby Orajel is GREAT. Now for his red bottom, I would suggest when he sleeps he sleeps naked, put a cloth diaper or towel under him incase he goes to the bathroom, and when he has to wear a diaper use corn startch to absorb the moisture, but let him go without a diaper as much as you can, this is the best rememdy for that, my brother in law is a peditrician and this is what he always recommends, and when my were little it worked great. Good Luck and Happy Mylotting!!!

If you have the patience, wet warm washrags.. no soap. DON'T Use Desitin! It burns their little bottoms. It makes for extra laundry, but it's worth it. Also, let his bottom air dry for as long as you can handle him being naked. Babies love it, we're the ones that rush them into clothes. I also use homemade wipees... on my 4th Child and her bottom NEVER broke out! It is a few drops of Melaleuca oil, baby oil, 1/4 cup or so of water and paper towels cut in half. Used those for a year and a half through all her teething. If you need soothing for teeth pain: Popcicles... messy, but funa nd NUMBING. Wet washrags in the freezer. He can rip and tear and change the position in his hands and mouth. (You'll need washrags that you DIDN'T use on his bottom! LOL!) Also, Walmart carries teething tablets. We finally clued in with #4. These are small and disolve while Baby is crying. When it started working, she started pointing to the tablets!! For extra rags: cut up Daddy's socks when he puts a hole in the toe or heel. Cut the top off the sock and the toes. Cut up one side and you have a small rag just the right size for faces and bottoms! Hope this helps. We've been through four teething babies! BearBallew PS. I have to tell you the funniest teething advice we got with #1 that we share with every parent: Give the Baby a shot of whiskey ... Then take TWO shots for yourself and you'll get through teething NO problem!

I am not sure what a red bottom has to do with teething, but in my experiences with diaper rash, the best thing to do is keep his butt as clean and dry as possible. Change his diaper often, and if you can, let him go without a diaper for about a half an hour to an hour to let some air hit it. Also, use cornstarch. A lot of baby powders have perfumes and fragrances that can irritate a rash worse. If you use just plain old cornstarch that you can buy in the grocery store baking isle, it will clear it up very fast. I used it for all 3 of my kids when they were babies. As far as the teething goes, buy him some of those freezepops that come in a box of like 100. the ones that are completely wrapped in plastic that you need to cut open with scissors. Give them to him UNOPENED and let him just chew on the frozen popsicle package. It will soothe his gums. You can also try childrens Motrin to help with the aching gums. Motrin is for pain and inflammation so it will make him feel better. If he is running a fever, alternate Motrin and Tylenol every 4-6 hours or so. Just try to make him as comfortable as possible. Hope this info helps! ~Love

My daughter seemed to sometimes be irritated with what was in the disposable diapers. I tried to use cloth diapers that were washed and rinsed at least a couple of times. After cleaning her bottom well, I used olive oil to coat her skin. I also made sure that the diaper was changed very frequently so that she did not sit in a dirty diaper too long. The one thing that you will have to be careful of if you are using disposable diapers with the olive oil, is to clean your hands thoroughly before sticking the diaper tabs down. The oil really ruins the stickiness of the tabs if you get it on the sticky part. I hope this helps. As with anything involving your child's health, you should always check with your doctor for help in these areas before doing anything.

hylands teething tables are a great product for revealing the pain. the best thing you can do is Motrin and Tylenol, rotate them every two to four hours. If he will withstand cold things have him suck on ice, or rub ice on his gums. teething is a PIA for everyone, mom and baby included
