my hubby was seriously ill to where i had to take him straight to the doctor from work and he had ALL the symptoms of swine flu.. i mean ALL of them! i was convinced he had it and was freaking out.. they asked if he wanted to be tested which i was like "DUH!" since hello he is showing all the symptoms here! and we paid for the extra test for it.. luckily he didnt have it but i couldnt believe they charged 150 bucks for the test!! i mean i would think that doctors would want or have to test you if you showed signs and that the patient wouldnt be charged unless it was just a silly request and a waste of time or something but this wasnt.. which made me wonder if he DIDNT have the money to get the test and did have it would they have let him walk out and not even offered to test him or something??
how crazy would that be! surely not everyone with swine flu has insurance or money to pay for the test!!
anyways have you thought you had the swine flu and gotten tested for it? did you have to pay extra?

Well so far the symptoms of an ordinary flu and swine flu are very much similar that is why they really have to confirm if it is swine or ordinary flu. If you are tested positive then you have to take a different medication for that one. If not then you are given a different medication for it. I think that was the reason why they encourage you to take the test because the medicines for swine flu if taken by those not infected by the disease will create tolerance to the disease wherein if he is infected by the real swine flu virus the medicines would not take effect on the patient anymore. So they have to be careful in administering the medicines.

but they didnt even push the test though.. they even said if he gets it and shows positive they have to send it to the health dept and that the center of disease control doesnt want them to do that unless some one was in the hospital.. it almost made us feel like they were saying to not even bother till you hit the hospital! like i said he had every symptom so its not like he had 1 symptom and was over reacting or something.. i was very disappointed in their behavior

I havent been tested for swine flu...Dont know anybody who has.
Thats alot of money for a test for it! I would hope they would test anyone they thought had it because its fairly contagious from what i understand. It shouldnt matter if you have insurance or not when they think this flu could be come a pandemic. Just think if your husband had it...didnt get tested and it spread really fast in your area because they werent testing...the hospital/doctors could get in a fair bit of trouble one would think.

your right 150 is alot of money especially when you haven't got it, surely there has to be a way to be sure it you have swine flu or not for the poorer population, being as this strain is so deadly, that's terrible, im curious would they have let you go to infect more people, that sort of thing make's you realize how much money rules the world, it's a world for the rich lol....

I have not been tested for swine flu, but since i live in such a clean environment, I don't worry about it, besides around 50,000 people die from flu alone, so swine flu is just like the flu, nothing to worry about.

there is a difference between them. they are not positive on how this one will react to different health problems and this one has gotten more young people which regular flu does not.. cleanliness helps but doesnt guarantee anything
