My daughter has the flu for the 3rd time this year & I have taken her to the doctor for all of them...the first 2 times was because I couldn't get her temperature under control & the doctors told me twice to keep doing what I was doing - panadol, etc...Today, I took her to the doctor because she has had the flu this time for 2 weeks & hasn't been able to shake it...I had been putting off taking her because I thought they would tell me the same thing they always tell me...the doctor did but this time, he gave her a script for ventalin to help her breathe until she gets over the flu. I know you can't give antibiotics to people who have a virus but still, when you keep getting the same answer whenever you take your child to the doctor, you're less likely to take them back when they next become ill. Have you had the same problem?

When my kids get sick I usualy call the doctors office and see if they tell me to come in or not. Most of the time they tell me to wait it out and see if it clears up on its own. They can also tell me what is going around and what to look for. I think I have a great office. I dont want to pay the copay for comming in for no reason and they dont want to waste my time.

I wish my doctors surgery was like that...the doctors are great but you don't really get to talk to the girls that much.

Yes, I have had the same problem. It was frustrating at the first time; but, now I know how to handle my baby who's got flu. You just need an instrument to absorb the rhinitis in your babies nose. Then, give your baby a paracetamol drops (for infants) or a paracetamol syrups (for 1 year and above) + a liquid inhaler to be dropped in your babies nose (1 drop for each). For the flu with cough, you might need a nebulizer machine to take-out the phlegm/sputum from your babies throat. You might need a doctor's opinion on this for further clarification. Hopefully, my experience here would satisfy you. Cheers.

Thanks for the info, I will try most of what you have mentioned, she doesn't like the thing for her nose but I may try it again.
