In the sentence "Overall, it(a TV program) was number seven for the week and number one in demographics.", does "demographics" mean "rating"? In dictionary, "demographics" mean "statistics about population", but I don't think the explanation quite fit with the context.

ratings is closer in that use of it.
both are correct,but referring to TV,it's more about ratings in general.
