I was reading an article and she planned her own birthday party. Has anyone planned their own birthday party before? I just thought that was odd, but it is my own opinion. I don't think I would ever plan my own party. If anything I forget about my own birthday or plan a small get together only with a few close friends. I would feel a bit odd planning my own party.
Of course I plan my kids parties and I have been known to plan a surprise party for my husband.

That sounds like something I would maybe do...planning with my friends. I'm glad you had a great time. Things are always better when you're with people you enjoy.

I think it depends how old you are turning. If it is a birthday for like 16, 18, 21, 25, 30, 40, 50 etc, you shouldn't plan it. But if you want it to go a certain way then you will have to plan it. I never really been good with parties. I just make sure there is cake and food. I am trying to plan a party or something for my birthday next month so we will see how that goes. I always wanted to throw a white and black party with like 300-400 people to see how that goes.

I don't feel like I'm very good at planning parties either. It's not something I'm naturally good at but have planned several things for our kids at our house. I'll have to get better at that as they get older.
I agree with you, you shouldn't plan your own "milestone" birthday.
I hope one day you do decide to plan a huge party with several hundred people. We only live once, so we should celebrate whenever we can right? (I should remember that more often.) You should decide to make that happen!

since nobody ever surprises me on my birthday, i would surprise myself and plan for it 
... if i have the money, i would have it a really big parties, where all my friends can come...
although i have had simple parties for my birthday that i had organized, few close friends... it would be really cool i think if i can plan and make it happen, a one big birthday party for me.

You should decide to plan a big party and just do it!!! Maybe you could do it for one of your friends if you didn't want to do it for yourself. But in the end does it really matter who it's for? It's just fun to get together.
