I was doing some writing about old and new things and I was wondering what is there that was invented and then never changed or improved. The only things I could think of were spoons and forks. Can you think of anything else that was invented long ago that is still basically the same today as it was when it was first invented?

Other than fork and spoons, i believe there should be some more things which we dun really take notice of it, or maybe have taken for granted.. lol =D Just like, chairs, it's the same ever since it's been invented, and every chairs are bound to have 4 legs, but seldom seen any with just 3 legs or even 2 legs.. haha =D
Some inventions might have changes overthe years and decades, but the basic foundation is still there, only material used are different ^_^ hehe

Thanks for commenting gitfiddleplayer but actually if you compare the majority of male and female bodies from 50 years ago and today you will see that man is getting more obese, fatter and according to statistics those numbers are supposed to keep rising. Did you see Wall-e? In that childrens movie all people had to live in spacecrafts on a different planet. And they all looked the same; just big blobs. Well a movie like that fifty years ago probably wouldn't have depicted all of the people as fat. So I think a lot of people are changing.

Scissors, saws and most cutting tools are more or less the same.
Wheelbarrows maybe?

Plates are the same, just different materials. The wheel. Cups and mugs. Jewelry. Wagons and wheelbarrows. I'm sure there are a lot of things whose basic design can't be much improved upon!

Spoons and forks are always being modified. Some tines are longer, some forks are narrower, etc. There is probably nothing under the sun that hasn't seen some kind of improvement to it.
