Are you allowed to leave the dinner table if you didn't finish your food?

I just wonder in your family, for instance, your dad and mom, you and your siblings having dinner together, would you allowed to leave the table while you are having dinner without finish your food? My parents definitely won't like it. But sometimes, I had emergency calls from friends, I might just have to leave. Later, I might just take the reprimands.

When I was little we had to finish what was on our plate before we could get up from the table, even if there was something that you wanted more than one serving of, you couldn't have seconds until you cleaned your plate.

When I was younger if we did not finish our food we had to save it for later, offer it to someone else, or throw it down the disposal or in the trash without anyone noticing. Now though I live with my fiance and his parents and if we don't finish our food we can throw it away or save it for later, it just depends, etc. Most of the time at home we eat all of our food and what little we don't eat gets thrown away, sometimes given to the dogs, and to the cats.
If there is a guest and they are our friend we stay at the table with them until they are done but if it's a guest and it is not our friends we leave the table, if it's family we do the same of leaving the table.
