Do you have a Strange Fear?

My friends and I always joke that we have stange fears that we can only assume are from past lives because nothing has occured in this life to make us scared or worried about it. I have a strange fear of barriers (like the ones that lift up and down to allow you to access carparks) and will not walk underneath them cos I am scared they are going to come down chop my head off. I know it makes no sense whatsoever but it's just there I can't help it! I also have a strange fear of anything near my throat if something touched my throat i freak so i've come to the concusion that i was either beheaded hung or strangled maybe all three lol. My friend is afraid of drowning shes never known anyone to drown or even had an experience I have yet i'm not scared of water. She also has a weird phobia about fingernails if she traps it or it goes bad she completely freaks out she can't even watch people take false nails off!! So we've come to the conclusion that she was tried as a witch in her past life the being held under water having nails pulled off.
So Have you guys any strange fears that you have but simply have no reason to have and can not explain? Do you think that it's possible it may be linked to a past memory or life?

I have many strange fears, you see I am an Agroaphobic and I cannot leave my home. If I listed all I my fears you would still be reading them 3 days from now!!

well i'm glad you didn't lol i guess it's hard for you to think of a particular one that just boggles your brain and you have no reason to have it ie it's an illogical fear. Is the agroaphobia due to an incident thats made you only feel safe at home or just on overwhelming fear of the outside? I don't honestly know much about the condition!

Nothing very strange. I have a fear of heights that has developed over the last 10 years. Other than that, I've very recently developed a fear of being caught in the act of farting...

have you ever been in an accident or can associate a reason for the fear? The only thing I can think is try to be in vehicles and overcome your fear if this is to much for you maybe see a therapist and try to work through it to a solution. Hopefully that way you will be able to get to the root of the issue causing your fear and cure it somewhat. You definately need to tackle it if it's having an increasingly negative effect on your life. Good luck

I don't know if this is what one would call 'strange', but I'm afraid of every little animals' touch! Yes, I DO love hamsters, kittens, and puppies but I'm not really fond of their touch. I would go crazy and all screaming by just feeling the touch of their paws, fingers or whatever you call that. I love animals like those three but I'm scared of them Pretty strange, huh? I would always go hysterical whenever they touch me, and I hate that kind of feeling. A feeling that makes you feel that everyone's laughing at you for being really silly. Being really silly to be scared of every little creature's touch. Argh!
Do you find it strange?

I know most people will be like aww they are so cute but everyone has some can't of fear that they can not explain don't feel silly it's just your thing it's only the same as people being scared of house spiders i mean they are hardly going to hurt you but people still run and scream or a mouse just the same! thanks for sharing :)

I liked your conclusions . I also agree with you on this , there are few strange fears within us that we don;i know where we actually picked it from . May be it got some connection from the past .
When i was small and was living at ground floor of my house i used to see one same dream everyday . It was like many people running round and round . My eyes just gets open in the middle of the dream and i actually used to see some rounding figures on the wall . And because of this i started getting frightened if i see something moving round very fast . It could be any machine or children playing . Moreover i also get freaked seeing many insects or ants in a crowd . I think this is normal but seeing them gives me a chill and skin hair just stands up.

Bet that was scary alot of people are scared of large numbers of animals/insects even if usually the animal/insect on its own doesn't scare them. Just seem more agressive scary in large numbers it's overwhelming. Maybe you experienced an attack by a swarm of some kind in a precious life ha ha hopeful not sounds awful actually yuk

I do actually! I have this deep seated fear of ticks. The thought of having a little parastite bury into my skin and me not knowing about it horrifies me. I've never even had one on me before, but whenever I'm back home in Australia and out walking in the bush or someplace where ticks are found, I get obsessed with checking mysaelf for them each day. God knows how I'd react if I found one on me. I don't think I can attribute a past life experience to mny own fear though.

oooh yuk when you describe it like that i'm not much keen either not much bothers me bug wise but i'm not keen on cockroaches or earwigs anything that keeps living after it's heads cut off is just not right :(. What do you thinks made you fear them? something you've read or seen on tv or is it just the thought of it?

Hi Mands, The only thing I can think of really is the fact that I do not like going up into an attic when I am on my on, I always make sure there is someone on the landing with me, don't know whether it is a fear as such of a practicality in that if I fall there is someone else there to help me. Beheaded or strangled eh either a really naughty girl or an innocent victim in a previous life. Huggles. Ellie :D

elliebobs :) I can't say i'm surprised that you don't like attics especially how you seem to get things gravitating towards and things up there are likely to be hiding for a reason *shudders*. I've always wanted a house with a basement or an attic that i could convert into a den or a bedroom (looking at the stars at night awesome) not sure why don't know anyone that has one apart from a friend in canada had a den downstairs and I got to sleep there the whole time very cool :). MMM I can't decide which either although knowing how facinated i am with everything like that I may have been inbetweener like i had some skills but was misunderstood ha ha ha

Hi, mands I am scared of looking at the ocean at night. It's eerie. I do not know why. I do not have any bad experience that happened in or near the ocean at night. I do not have problems with swimming or sailing or lying at the beach either, as long as it is night time. So, I do not like any romantic dinners by the sea
Have a nice day!

that is a strange one guess you never can tell what lurks in the murky depths bet thats a pain! you have to make sure you plan your boat trips properly and stuff how weird all ok during the day but then as soon as it's light changes it completely and theres nothing that you can think of thats made you that way no bad experience?

I don't know if your fears are from past lives, I just think we all have strange fears and they all make us interesting! I have a fear of getting on escalators...I've had that fear since I was a little girl. Even if I'm out shopping with a friend, she'll take the escalator and I'm running around looking for an elevator. I guess it's sorta like a vertigo thing, although I've never suffered from that. I just don't like seeing those steps come up and I don't know when to get on! Also, I'm afraid of high, steep streets...I always feel like I'm gonna lose control and roll down...No past life...just fears I guess. I wouldn't think too much about your fears coming from a past life. Also, when I was little, and the Alfred Hitchcock theme song would come on the tv, I wouldn't even go into the room! His profile scared me!

They are definately interesting! my mum doesn't like escalators or lifts and like you always takes the stairs. Ususally fears are generated from a negative experience that you've had or someone close to you which is why we joke about past lifes because we can not name an incident that relates in this one. I love horror and have yet to find a film that scares me maybe I will in my next life *winks*
