Writer's block in my opinion is just un-needed tension; and the only way I can get rid of tension whether it internal or external is music. Music is my way to get over anything,it's like a movement of the soul--okay, so maybe it isn't the "movement", but it definitely has its perk when it stirs something inside of you.

I completely agree! Not only does music relieve stress and tension but its a powerful tool to stimulate your creative process..Invoking memories, movement, and so many other things as well. I can't tell you how many times I have been in a car or out somewhere and heard as song or base line that helped pull together a piece i had been working on.. Besos

I put the pen down and go for a walk in the woods. I live in the great pacific northwest, where if your not born with webbed feet you would drowned from all the rain. Just kidding. We do get an enormous amount of rain. That makes all the forest around us lush and green with beautiful ferns, cascading ivy, and pines so tall they hurt your neck to search for the tops. A walk in this scenery is my general cure for writers block. It allows my mind to flow freely as i look in awe at my surroundings and often gives me new ideas and outlooks about my current topics of writing.

Whenever I feel as though I've gotten burnt out on something, I take a break from it. A "creative" break, if you want to call it that. I get my biggest case(s) of writers block (or a block in creativity) when I'm overworked, concentrating too hard, or have too much on my plate. I like to take breaks in between and find inspiration: taking a long bubble bath, catching up with friends I haven't heard from in forever, talking a long walk, a scenic drive, listening to some of my favorite music, yoga, watch my favorite movie, and so on. You can find inspiration pretty much anywhere, you just need to take a little time off to yourself to find it.

I find the easiest way to get over/around writer's block, is to simply back away from the project. I write poetry.. actually the term I use is create. I let it come to me as it wants to. If I start a poem or short narrative and I lose focus, I try not to sweat it. It may be days before the next phrase comes to me, it may be weeks but eventually it will come. Try to consider everything a work in progress, thats what I do.

Writer's block can be really annoying, especially if you have a deadline. What I do is I listen to music to get inspired or relaxed. I also watch tv or surf/play games on the internet. As long as I relax, I am able to start writing immediately.
