i listen to them all the time..it gives me energy to do my job properly unlike most of the elders tells us that if we listen to that kind of music,we might think of trashing the whole place, rock music doesnt signifies anger (well sometimes)just because they have a loud voice and screaming guitars, thats just theyre way of expressing their music in a unique way that most people cant seem to understand, well whats your thought about this?

Rock gets criticized the way as a negative effect because they tend to listen on the lyrics or the literal meaning without expanding their thoughts. As for me, I love to hear the lead guitarists astounding riffs, intros.
The only way to a better music appreciation is not of its genre but how it is well played.

Man, people are not stupid when it comes to lyriccs. We know that sometimes lyrics sound like insane or stoned or whatever. One could interpret the song's lyrics closely enough when you get to read a review or an interview with the actual artist, to know what the hell he's talking about in the song. You can't reinterpret something that's already blatantly negative, can you?
But I could agree to your love of listening to lead guitarists, and your comment about how well music is played, the way it is played.

I don't know why that is either. I love rock music to an extent, but I do listen to all kinds anyway. Rock music has just become a preference of mine. Slipknot,Korn,Linkin park,Killswitch Engage are just a few to name. For me rock is actually soothing. I listen to it when RnB and Hiphop/rap start getting annoying...like now of days..gahh..

Well, I like rock, too. I think some people hear it as noise because they were not raised hearing this genre. Yes, especially the elders because then, Classical music is their rock. My grandparents wonders very often how we "endure" this kind of sounds. When I smile, sort of smirk, at them, they often say.."Children today!" then they let it go. *smiles*

People need music appreciation and music education. Not all rock songs are noisy, angry. Listen to Eric Johnson.

The answer to your question is simple, many of the early rockers wanted it that way. Rock N Roll was a rebelion if some people esp. parents approved it wouldn't do. The reputation just stuck. You must not forget that Elvis and the other were labeled evil and player of devil music, not they are classic.
Music always evolves in cycles.

What one listens to in their own private world, I have no objection to.
My objection is being forced to listen, in public, vicious, violent, criminal acts in the lyrics of some songs (no, not all songs have them, but that is the kind some people like to play full blast without headphones) while I'm waiting or riding for a bus or light rail, or any public transportation.
I have my own system, with headphones and all, to drown out these criminally insane lunatics who think they can communicate their violence to the populace, with classical music mostly, or light rock when the other station is out of range, or classic rock - depending on my mood.
So I don't have criticism to any kind of music in general, just when it is forced and pounded in my ears.

I don't know why rock gets so much criticism, but you're right - it's just that artists way of expressing themselves, and there's nothing wrong with that. It should be looked at just like rap, country, gospel, pop, and every other genre out there. People probably associate rock with being "evil" because a lot of the time (but not always, obviously) the combination of loud guitars/power chords and wailing guitar solos, a sometimes screaming vocalist, and rock n' roll drums, and the (sometimes angry) lyrics of songs portray a "dark" image or at least a hard-core one. I don't really see any problem with it; I actually really love most rock music, and listening to mainstream rap is actually more upsetting to me than any other genre.
