What drives your cat cuckoo?

I know that the plastic, vintage my little ponies have a smell that drives cats crazy! I collect them and if I was to leave them hanging around my cats would grab them and cuddle them, totally in love with the smell. Other collectors have had this experience aswell. It is so funny to witness so I will sometimes leave a very poor pony out for my cats to cuddle with. They never harm it, they just go cuckoo over the things . And the weirdest thing is that they don't accept cheaper brands, only the real thing (the 80's my little ponies by Hasbro) seem to do the trick. They are actually picky too, lol! What makes your cat go cuckoo?

I haven't owned a cat in years, but a while back we used to have a cat that would go absolutely insane when it came near my Grandmother's shoes! It was if the cat was in love with them or something? All we could guess was that my Grandmother must have walked through something that the cat found appealing like catnip maybe? It was really funny to watch because my Grandmother would walk through the door, take off her shoes and place them on the floor and then the cat would appear out of nowhere and then slowly approach them. Once he reached them, he'd start rubbing his face against them and would then stretch out on top of the shoes with this glazed look in his eyes. He'd be purring his butt off the entire time!

LOL, that's a good one, James . I haven't had any shoeloving kittens so far, even though my cats do sniff at my boyfriends horseriding boots in upper disbelieve that there would be such a creature anywhere near or home. They don't rub their faces against it or seem to like the smell. They can't stay away from it either, it's a bit bizarre. I love the odd pranks cats can pull on us and their warm affection for things we can't seem to be able to understand. Grannies shoes must have been something special .

Cays have a great life if you ask me! They spend most of their time asleep, they always seem to look happy, they have 9 lives; and they can lick themselves wherever the heck they like! If it wasn't for cat food, I wouldn't mind being a cat at all! Thanks for the BR too cyberfluf.

My cat goes cuckoo on catnip for sure. But she also likes ear wax. She's weird about that. I have to throw away my qtips and put them deep in my trash can. My cat also goes cuckoo when I have items with chocolate in it. She will just not leave you alone, no matter what. She also goes cuckoo on certain types of meats, especially chicken. I have once put some steak that was bad in the trashcan (it was cooked, but my aunt isn't that great at grilling steak, and she gets cheap fatty steak, heh) and I couldn't leave it there. One minute I was checking my email, the next, all my trash was on the floor, with the trashcan tipped over and my cat got her some steak. hehe

It sounds like your cat is quite the adventurer, eh? {em]happy[/em]. I like cats that have a mind of their own, and most of them do so. I've heard about catnip and meats driving kitties crazy before, but the earwax thing is totally new to me! . I am unsure what she fancies about it, but indeed better put it deep down in the trash can to make sure she doesn't get to them! . Thanks for responding!

Good to see you here on mylot, swtchbladekittie! I hope you will enjoy it here. I have heard about gets going berzerk with shoe strings, but money is a new one for me to hear about. Does your kittie play with it and then put it in her litterbox for some reason, or does she eat it? I couldn't tell from your post, but if she eats it that can be awfully dangerous I suppose. Have a great day!
