Do you turn off or silence your phone while inside the church? I think we should so as not to distract others with its ringing or alerts while worship is going on. What do you think of people who don't practice this and allow their phones to keep ringing in church?

Anyone who does not turn off their cell phone while in Church is clearly not there in the first place with a proper worshipful attitude. I have yet to hear that God and His angels contact us through our cell phones.
We all make mistakes and are forgetful. If I happened to be in church and had forgotten to turn off my cell phone, I would be extremely embarrassed and would rush to turn it off. Letting it ring would seem to me the height of rudeness to the church and to the assembled congregation.

It is good that we don't need cellphones to get in touch with God!=) He is always just a prayer away. So it is not really necessary to turn on cellphones in church since the reason why we are in church is to give our undivided attention to God. I agree with you that to silence our cellphones in church is the polite thing to do and shows respect to God and to others.
Thanks for your response. Have a blessed day.

I always make sure that my phone is in silent mode before i enter the church's gate. I think nobody needs to remind us to silence our phones or turn them off while in church because when we go to worship we already knew that we are there to honor God and listen to Him through His appointed preachers. So it is only proper that we keep these gadgets off while in the church so they won't cause any distraction to anybody while we are communing with the Lord.

I always see to it that I switch my cell to silent mode everytime I'm in church. This is a way of showing my reverence to the Lord, so that I have my undivided attention to him. We only allot one hour a week to worship Him in church, so it's just a matter of discipline and self-control; I have a very low regard for people who don't switch off their cellphones--it's annoying...imagine, these people can't just wait until the service is over? How important are these messages compared to the time that spend to the Lord?

Yeah, I think that one hour a week should be devoted exclusively Him who deserves our utmost worship. We have several other times for calls and messaging, is one hour a week such a big deal to give to the Lord? I don't really look down on people who DELIBERATELY use their cellphones during worship, but I feel sorry for them because they choose to give priority to that which is of temporal value rather to something of eternal value.

Hey there! I switch my phone to silent mode whenever I go to church. It's really annoying when someone's phone goes off while the mass is ongoing. There are some churches here in the Philippines that have signal jammers that jam reception inside the church so that there's no outgoing or incoming messages or calls.

Really???!!! I am surprised too to find out that there are churches who have signal jammers installed. Could you tell me what and where these churches are?

I always keep my cell phone silent while inside the church, because just like you, I do also think that it will distract other's concentration while worship is going on. Anyway, there is one time that when the priest was preaching, and he mentioned about this cell phone matters. He suggested that we'd better turn it off or at least silence it. Guess what? My father's cell phone suddenly ringing at the time the priest talking about it! He might have forgotten to silence it, lol..and everybody was starring at him. I tried not to laugh that time, though..but I felt sorry for my father who was suddenly became so panick of turning off his phone, lol..poor old man :)

I switch my cellphone into vibrate phone as to not missed important calls. There are still some people who do not turn off their tones which I believe is very distracting. They should practice phonetics, even on public places there are some people who talk loud.

I never go to church now because I just don't feel praying there. I only stay at home and just pray here. Besides it is the same thing those people there and I do. The only difference is the absence of a priest. When I used to go to church before I always turn my cellphone into silent mode. I do not turn it off because emergency may always come in. What I mean is me getting help and not the people in my phone book bothering me while the mass is ongoing. I always put it in a silent mode because I respect the people who prays deep and of course as a courtesy to all the people in the church. I feel shame to those who bring their phones inside but kept them on and not in silent mode. They bother us and they annoy everyone. They do not know how to follow simple rules.

I urn mine off or I don't even take it. I don't think that cellphones belong in church whatsoever. I feel that cellphones are a distraction in church, when they ring, as it takes our focus off why we are their in the first place. I don't understand why people think they need their cellphones in church anyway. The only ones I can see having them in church are doctors, as they nver know when they would get a call. Other than that, they don't belong there. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.

it is a must that a cell phone must be turned off inside the church. church is a holy and sacred place.
