Have you ever wanted to live on a tropical island? Well I got the chance a few years ago to live and work on a beautiful island in the middle of the Indian Ocean called Diego Garcia. Now some of you may have heard rumors about the island being used to house terroist prisoners. That is all it ever was, just a rumor. If you could live on a tropical island where would it be and what do you think you would like to do there?

I have never really wanted to live on a tropical island. I am more of a mountain person!
I would give it a try, if I had the opportunity. I think I would really enjoy going for walks to see all of the different plants and animals. They are so different from what I see now! I would definitely want it to be an island that didnt get a lot of tourists though. I think all of the people visiting would drive me crazy very quickly!
I think the hardest part for me would be avoiding the sun! I burn very easily and so I dont spend a lot of time in the sun. On a tropical island, that is what you get most of the time! I would either find a way to stay inside or in the shade or I would be a lobster the whole time I was there!

I have to admit for the first few months on the island I did just that, I burned. But once my body got use to being in the sun more I slowly developed a nice tan. No tourist on this island as it is a military base and nothing more. I loved being able to going snorkling, wind surfing, fishing when ever I had the chance which was alot. Maybe one day you will be able to find your perfect island.

I had even thought of some of those activities. They do sound quite fun!
I wonder if my skin would actually get used to it. I have gotten blisters from the sun. I have also gotten really bad sun poisoning. So I would avoid living on an island as much as possible. But I guess even my skin could get used to it, if it had to!

We had a fella that experienced the same as you. Sun poisoning and blistering. We had to find him the strongest sun block that they make so he could go out fishing and sailing with us. Even then he was limited to about 5 hours or so and then he would start to burn again. I would be almost willing to bet you have natural red hair.

I love the tropics, but not sure if I would want to live there forever. Instead I will stay in FL, thats close enought to me. My family is from Puerto Rico and I have been there on vacation and had a blast! I been to bahamas on cruise as well. But can't say I would want to live in either places. Just visisting... =)
