Can you eat alone?

I usually find eating with friends or with someone is a lot more fun than eating alone. But there are instances that I have to eat alone. This are things I can manage easily. I have a cousin who prefer to starve to death rather than to eat alone. We had dinner last week. When I saw her, she told me that she haven't taken her breakfast and lunch because she cannot eat alone. I was very surprise of her reason and I really nag her for having an illogical reason. What can you say about this?

Yes, i think so. I think i have tried it a few times. No big deal. I'm not too shy to eat alone because i know the people around me are eating as well. Busy enough to mind how i eat. I do understand why some people can't eat alone because it's kind of boring really. Some people would prefer to have company so they talk about something while eating. Eating alone doesn't necessarily make you a loner. Wow, i think your cousin's on a diet. lol! Well i think it's psychological, i guess you just have to be with her so she can eat.

I can eat alone at home, but in public I prefer eating at least with one friend.I feel a bit uncomfortable sitting alone, especially when I order a full plate.I look like lonely unhappy woman who is trying to eat her problems, you know.Eating out with big company of friends is really entertaining and I love doing it.

I think this is one of her reason why she can't eat alone outside. But at home, she can't also eat alone. I really wander why... thanks for sharing.

i dont mind eating alone especially if i have a book to read or can watch tv. i find that you can get company out of different things, not just other people. does she read?

Yes, she reads but it seems that she was loosing her appetite if she will eat alone. She really want someone to be with her when eating. She's really weird. I don't know what kind of trauma she has when eating alone. Thanks for sharing. Happy myloting.

yes, i can eat alone. oftentimes in my workstation and at home. during lunch time in the office i eat with my friends. during fridays we have a lunch out. sometimes people need to eat alone or be alone. what if others really can't to be with us, right? being alone for me is a privilege. because you can have your own time with your self and take that time as precious because most of the time we're with our officemates and friends. what if they are gone? ;)

I agree with you. The reason I post this question is I really want to understand my cousin. I really feel that it is weird for not eating when she is alone. This habit just started when we are in our university years. We are about 19 then.

I can eat alone but I think it would be a lot enjoyable savoring the food with someone and just enjoy talking about anything under the sun. I can eat alone in a restaurant but I prefer to do it with someone.

Eating - Dining Alone
It would really be nicer to have someone when you eat. I like to eat with my loved ones or friends. However, I can also eat alone. Like in my current situation. I live alone in an apartment and I always eat alone. The only problem is that I don't have a regular time in eating. Since I am alone I eat whenever I feel like it. Just Sharing SFC

Yes I can eat alone. When I'm in school I prefer to eat alone during lunch time so that I can do it fast and still have time to take a nap.

when all my siblings got married, i was left all alone in our house because my parents live in the province. for 2 years, i lived on my own so i got used to eating alone. i don't like eating alone in a restaurant though so what i did was to order take out and eat my meals at home.

I can eat alone. If given a choice, it is better to eat with someone or anyone that you are comfortable at. I love to eat more if I am not alone. My eating appetite is better when I am not eating alone. If I have no choice, I can manage to eat alone. I don't like to skip meal because I don't have a companion. Any eating disorder might happen if I skip meal all the time if I don't have a companion. That is not also okay if you are working in a company where your lunch time is not scheduled at the same time with your friends.

I usually find eating alone is better for me. I am able to enjoy myself better when I eat alone, rather eating in a small group or big group of people. I am the type to wrap my plate to go, take it home and enjoy peacefully. I can't stand eating at a resturant with alot of noise and foolishness. Everyone has their own preference. Whatever you feel comfortable doing, then do it.

Yes I can eat alone. I cannot afford to sacrifice my health just because I have no one to eat with. As long as we are still capable of eating on our own, even if we have nobody to eat with us, we should experience eating alone than to starve our selves and put our health at a great risk. We cannot always have someone to be with us always that's why I think your cousin must really learn to eat alone and accept the fact that at the end of the road, we will only have nothing but our own self and God alone.

Your cousin is so weird! I never hear such reason before. Can she do anything else alone? I think she needs to learn to be alone while eating since she can't hope someone to accompany her every time she eats. You can ask her furthermore about why she can't eat alone. You need to know her problem and try to solve it soon.

I always eat alone. I get used to it when i was in college and my friends graduated already. I stop schooling for one year so I was like left in school. When all my friends graduated I learned to eat alone at school. Even in the house I prefer to eat alone. I'm such a loner now.

Well, I always and most of the time eat alon, I am a single mother to a 18 son who still lives at home, but he is most of the time not home and are out with his friends. So when it is food time, he is not around. I guess you get use to it, since you need to eat. That is however not god in his eyes, since he do not like to eat alone...but I say to him...you need to be at home when dinner time is...other wise you will eat alone... At work I do prefer to eat alon, it is then my lunchbreak, and I like to have that time as silence as possible...I hate when my cow worker are talking about the job, about the eldre we work for...I need that time to be a brake...so I can get new energy for the rest of the day....so I try to get my brake last, so I can be alone...some people can not just shut up...has to sound all the time...I hate that.

Yes, I can eat alone. I agree that eating with someone else is always more pleasant, but if I don't have anyone to eat with, I can eat alone. I really don't mind eating alone. I can easily do it.

Nobody really wants to eat alone on purpose. But that is taking it a bit too far when one does not totally eat just because he/she will need to eat alone. I don't like eating alone too but if I am really hungry, I would not care anymore if I eat alone. I would sit down and eat.
