Has anyone tried making cakes with these new fat reducing tips? (applesauce, grated sweet potatoes, etc.) Do they really work? I love cake, and I am at a point in my life where I am trying to modify my eating habits so that I can be healthier. I really miss eating cake. I keep seeing these tips on diferent television shows, but I am skeptical about how they will REALLY taste. So has anyone tried any fat reducing tips that actually tasted good?

I frequently use half the amount of butter called for in cake/muffin recipes and substitute the other half with unsweetened applesauce. It's great, the cake comes out just as moist and I can barely tell the difference in taste. And, I feel less guilty eating my cake, so it's killing two birds with one stone :)

I love to make cake with applesauce. If you can't find applesauce, it's easy to make. Just peel some apples and stick them into the food processor until smooth. I will also sometimes use egg whites instead of whole eggs. Yummy moist cakes and you really can't tell the difference!

hi, I love cake too and I have a recipe book with how to bake cakes using alternatives and even eggless cake but I haven't tried it yet because I can't seem to find applesauce here in my place.
I have tried eating cake with no sugar or that is with an atificial sweetener. It taste good but I don't know if it's healthy much like your drinking soda with no sugar.
