Praise ye the Lord.Praise God in His sanctuary:praise Him in the firmament of his power.Praise him for His mighty acts;praise Him according to His excellent greatness.Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet:praise Him with the psaltery and harp.Praise Him with the timbrel and dance:praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.Praise Him upon the loud cymbals:praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord.Praise ye Lord. My great grandmother was Methodist and supposed to be a very good christian. She thought that dancing and singing was a sin and would not allow it in her presense.I guess that did not read Psalms 150,huh?

religion is ok, but don't push it onto other people, let them praise him in there own way, from what i can see the faithful are getting fewer, i suppose i was a generation that needed something to believe in, now days people have the t.v and there computers, what a compromise, sad isnt it....

Yes,it is sad,but you can get the word of God on TV and online as well as at a church or just reading the bible and studying at home.

Isn't it something how different "religions" interpurt the Bible. Just a few days ago in the news about a young man about to graduate from a Christian school. They weren't allowed to dance neither. Well he took his girlfriend from another school to her prom, his school found out about it and was going to kick him out of school and not let him graduate with his class. Of course there was a big stink about it, I am not sure of the details of what finally happened.

A member of my family married someone who was raised in a religion that does not believe in musical instruments. I never understood how one could not believe in musical instruments, "man made music" as this kind of music was supported in the Bible as a way to praise God. As for recorded music, there have been many religious recordings, so it can also be said that humans record instrumental and vocal music so as to praise God even further, and bring God's message to those who might not be able to make it to a live performance.

I guess God's word,Psalms 150 anyway, should be updated to the 20th century, lol.Huh? That way it would support modern day electronics.

I once belonged to a religion that was against card playing, watching Tv, reading the newspaper, and oh yes, dancing. There was nothing against singing, but they all had to be psalms and hymns and I am the type of person who will tap my feet and move while singing in the choir even though I have no sense of rhythm or balance. I am waiting for my younger son's wedding so I can dance. Did not have a chance to do it much at my older son's. I love to sing and it is no sin. And dancing is all right at weddings or when you are alone.

My great grandmother did not like card playing either. She was Methodist and when I was a child I went to a methodist church and we had a choir. As well as some other methodist churches that I visited. As an adult I went to a Disciples of Christ Church and we had a choir. And the past 5 years I have been a member of a baptist church and we have a choir and monthly gospel bluegrass shows,we call gospel sings. We also have 3 gospel bluegrass musicians that are members of the church. You have no rhythm or balance, lol Well,if I sing in the shower the pipes would freeze.Lol I never heard anything about singing, dancing or card playing being a sin till my mom told me that my great grandmother thought it was a sin. Then just a few months ago our pastor asked the group,"What are the top three things that baptist don't like?" And 3 people shouted out dancing. After service I asked the pastor and he told me that some of the older people think dancing is a sin.And I asked him well is it? And he said no and he is 75.

There are so many ways to praise the Lord. All of which are, in my opinion, acceptable to the Lord. I think it depends on your individual personality. Singing and dancing were definitely an accepted way of expression in the Bible. King David even danced naked before the Lord in worship. I think it depends on what's in your heart and what your motivation is.
