Today, I received an email notification that someone had responded to a discussion I started a month ago. I went to have a look and found several responses to comments I had made to responders...how come we are not notified when someone comments back to our comments?? Anyway, that's not why I'm here...I searched everywhere for this person's response and I could not find it. I went to look in his profile in hid "discussions replied to" and I discovered that even though his rating is 429, he has started no discussions nor has he replied to any. Maybe his reply to me was deleted because it was just a few words...he said "I am in agreement with that" or something but how come his user rating is 429 if he has no activity???

God knows! I've seen some weird things going on myself from time to time, such as a discussion I've answered NOT showing up in my "Discussions I've responded to" list. It always seemed to happen in direct relation to a specific user too, which was very odd. I would assume that yes, the responder you've referred to DID have their comments deleted for one reason or another, but I;m not sure why their profile would show no activity? I've also seen members profiles saying that they've not been active for more than 60 days when this is not the case at all. Gremlins I reckon!

My oldest discussions say "three years ago" when I have only been here 2 years ago. Gremlin cannot count properly?

It seems he is doing a spot of copying pasting it seems James...the same response into many discussions. My profile said I had been here for 2 years right up till after I had been here 3 years...lol. Definitely gremlins!

Yesterday few 0f my old discussions resurrected and thanks to a responder who responded to every discussion with the same response I am in full agreement. I don't know who else receive this kind of response from this person. I rather have my discussions rested then to get this type of response.

From my notifications I know that those are exactly the words my responder used...which would explain why the response is deleted if he is going round pasting that response into heaps of discussions. Could you see the actual response or were you looking at your email notifications?

That is weird. I wish we would get notified too for all comments back, when we don't we sometimes miss some of our comments. Maybe somebody rated his comment negative and it got deleted, other then that I don't have any idea.

I just went back and read some of your oher comments. Now I undersand how and why this has happened. The person was trying to cheat by copy and paste and putting the same sentence on lots and lots of discussions, it didn't work.

That's probably what happened but his profile says otherwise. Response one explains why this might be. So far, his profile is still available.

Now I understand...this guy is going round copying the same response to heaps of discussions and they are being deleted a short time later.

When posts are deleted the user rating remains the same until the NEXT time that the user logs on and posts - then it drops by the number of posts that have been deleted. I presume this user has not posted again since the deletions (assuming he/she is still allowed to post )

Thanks for clearing that up. Now we know. It is possible that they may even be banned.

Sorry, I don't understand...how can he have a rating wit NO posts or responses? And if he is banned...how did he respond to my discussion???

-he/she posted and reached a rating -his/her posts were deleted -he/she has not/cannot log in since so the rating remains the same as it was before he/she lost his/her posts. If he/she is banned eventually the profile will no longer be visible.

Hi MsTickle, I don't know the answer to to 429 weirdsville question but I totally agree with you that we should be notified of all comments not just the first response one as I myself miss so very many because of this. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hiya Ellie, I always go back and see what my responders have to say to my posts and I add anything that makes sense to the discussion...if they comment back though, I don't know about it...if 16 people leave a comment to that response, the responder will be alerted by email but I - the original poster - won't know about it unless I remember to check back...and I rarely if ever do that.

The number in brackets represents the number of responses every user posts. It has nothing to do with how many discussions each of us create.

Oh, sorry, I've just read your discussion again and I've seen you mentioned he doesn't have any responses to other members' discussions either... Then I have no idea...

This person is making the rounds. there is another discussion like this one, maybe more. It is strange. The responses are all deleted, but the posts keep going up.

I've seen this before in the past and reported it to mylot - it's been a couple years ago but the member's profile was removed shortly after that - sure it was a big time cheater.

I'm guessing he has not read the guidelines and does not realise he is cheating. He probably thinks he is being very clever. Of course, it will all catch up with him eventually...nice to see you by the way.

yeah, that happened to me, and I think all his "yeah, me too" type discussions were removed - this guy did show some activies, but maybe they just hadn't removed them all yet.... or maybe it was a different person

we're supposed to be notified..but it seems like the mails don't go out sometimes.. i don't know..i guess if nobody's marked him up or down recently it would stay where it was left? if he has absolutely nothing on there though..that makes no sense.weird..

I've been here well over 3 years now and I reckon they should be getting it right by now. It never ceases to amaze me that as a rule, people don't familiarise themselves with the guidelines. C'est la vie, I guess...

thats happened to me once or twice. also im constantly worried that i wont respond to a post on one of my discussions that i've missed the email and people will think im rude. i dont want my friends thinking that. hopefully they will realise that if its an old discussion i may not have gotten the notification.

Hi bunny, I know what you mean. I've got myself in a bit of a pickle. I started a discussion yesterday and I have several responses and I can't think of what top comment back to most people. I'm really stuck, my mind is blank.

This is really late, but I'm catching up on emails from a four day off from the internet. That is really weird, and I can't say I've experienced anything like this yet. That seems like a glitch perhaps in the system, that it just wasn't showing up. I saw a thread not too long ago that said the home pages were messing up and not showing correctly. The last time I went to post a picture comment it wouldn't show up and I had to just leave a text message on a friend's profile. Hopefully the glitches will work themselves out. Hope you have a wonderful week. Namaste-Anora

Namaste Anora, I've been away too, just home again today. I've actually not thought about anything much lately as much Dad has been ill. I have not checked again on this user to see what things are up to. I think we get glitches when they change things in the program...like the new task changes. Take care, Tickle.

They probably had it all deleted maybe or it is another glitch or maybe something is wrong. I know before my profile went nuts saying I had no activity for 2 weeks when in fact I had been answering away all day..so maybe it is just a glitch.

A few people have given pretty much the same explanation mdg and it all makes sense. This person obviously didn't read the guidelines and thought he was being smart (sneaky). If he had read the rules he would realise he is doing the wrong thing; he will be caught; he will more than likely be banned. Up till now, his profile is still there.

Well, do you know the guy, and if you do, have you thought of the possibility of his being banned from the site? There's all sorts of possibilities. Sometimes the e-mails go awry because I've been notified about one response to my discussions before and gone in to find four or five. I don't know why that is, I'm sure but it does happen. Your dilemma is somewhat intriguing though. It really sounds as though either he's hidden his activity, or he's been banned. A month is certainly long enough time for this to happen! Brightest Blessings my friend.

Hmmm? Maybe he actually wrote the same response over and over again which would also be a violation of the rules if I understand the rules correctly. At the same time the administration clearly indicates in the rules not to do that so maybe they are giving some latitude to the person for previous responses and posts. I have another thought also kind of on the lines of a cloaking device. Certainly not something that would help to earn points. That is just a couple of thoughts.

I do receive email notifications whenever a member responds to my comments on a post, Ms Tickle. So far as an explanation why that member has such a rating even though he is not active, I don't understand it either.

I also receive a notification when someone responds to my comments...but only once. If there are subsequent comments, I don't receive notifications for those with the result that they go unseen.

That's good that this person brought you Post back to the front again. Perhaps others will see it and respond also. Some times I will not make a response to the last responder of a Former Post which only received a few responses. Then after some time, I will make my response. This will bring that Post up again where others will see it and perhaps make a response.

You got that right barehugs. I found a really good response and a reply I had not seen....I was also reminded to choose a best response so this isn't such a bad thing per se.
