IMEI number uniquely identifies a cell phone. It serves a lot of purpose. When a phone gets stolen you can track it and then block the phone. IMEI number contains a lot of information within itself like where is made from. Phone containing no IMEI number will not be accpeted by the service provider.

Hello, anshiarchit! Well, IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is also called the serial number of a mobile phone. This 15-digit number is unique to every mobile phone. You can determine the IMEI number by pressing *#06# on the keypad. When your mobile phone got stolen, just report to the authority then they will ask for the IMEI number of your phone so that they can block it and the user cannot use it anymore. But nowadays, there are some hackers who can still unblock it. Happy mylotting!
