Future Net speed in GBs

We know that out internet speeds are in KBps and some have MBps. But what are the chances that this speed will someday increase to GBs?
Wow!! It will be amazing to have such great speed to access all data contents on net.
Possibly everything will go online. There will be no need of installations and no more HARD disk space required. All you will need is an OS and rest everything will be available online.
So, what do you guys think ? Is it really possible ?

It is possible but the bills will rise to the moon and poor countries will never be able to cope up with even a fraction of that speed. And besides who would finance such mega connections with mega modems filling your whole living room :P
It would be cool though if our bodies could have usb connections so that we can import information into our brains... and then we will become ultra smart... xD

That was quite a funny response but still on a serious note if you think again, it is possible but not in near future of course but might be possible in 2050s may be. We will be old people by then. But whatsoever, It will be really amazing to see such a technology being implemented and morever no need to FORMAT your PC to get rid of virus.

what you speak of pup is already being done. its gonna take a few years to get here but it exist.

hey thanks for the information I did not know about it. Well it will certainly take time to reach to my country I guess. We will need special cable lines that can carry so much data per sec. A lot of things to be done. And of course if it is Wireless then not much efforts required.
