Please help me. We need a new refrigerator, one that is quiet and will not leak. We just do not know which one to buy. It just seems like the testamonials people give for different refrigerators are usually negative. Many people complain about rtheir new refrigerator being nosy or breaking down a lot. We want to find a refrigerator that is quiet and reliable. I just sincerely do not know which one to buy. Can you help us?

We bought a Whirlpool back in 98.
Still running just fine with no repairs. Ya can hear it come on if you are in the kitchen but then its not loud.
We also have a Roper that was in the house we bought 8 years ago.
They did some repair on it then but Ice maker never worked and they dais they couldnt find a part fot it so dont know how old it is!?
and it does make a noise though some times.
But to me both brands are good ones.
Happy hunting for new fridge!

Afraid I can't really help you with the 'new' fridge. Some years back I needed a new one myself but didn't have much money so went to a local store that sells refurbished appliances - pd $100 for that thing and it was still working beautifuly (and quiet) when I sold my house - over 10 years.
Just last month I got a washer and drier, both used, from the same place and look forward to them lasting as long as the refrigerator did.

Wow. I wish that you lived around here so that we could buy our refrigerator from the same place that you did. Sounds like you got a great deal.

This place is really great, they've been in town for 20 some years and anyone looking for a used appliance knows to go there or will recommend them to new people. Washers, drier, stoves, and refridgerators, have seen a few freezers but not a lot. They are really good, when they get used things in they go through the whole thing and fix anything they think may need fixed and make sure they work great before re-selling them. They don't make a lot off most things but they have a huge turn-over. This spring my Mom bought me a washer and drier there as a house warming gift in my new apartment - they were running low on both because everyone getting tax returns were buying them but set I got look like new and run beautifully.

Personally this is a Good thing to be doing your homework on, as there are so many different kinds to choose from and when you buy something Brand New, you want what will work the Best for you as well. We were given a Kitcen Aid by my Father In Law when our other one broke down, and it is still working really well for us.

We went to Sears a few days ago and bought a new refrigerator, but when they brought it out Monday to the house they refused to take our old refrigerator (not clean enough for them). We told them we had paid for installation of the new refrigerator and the removal of the old one. The two Sears guys just put the new refrigerator back on the truck and left.

I have a side by side refrigerator and had it for 15 years with no problems. It has a ice maker and cold water. It is a whirlpool. It never makes noise

I have heard other people say nice things about Whirlpool. I hope that they still make good refrigerators.

We got a Frigidaire Side by Side and it works quite well. The only thing wrong is the ice maker does not work and it does leak 'We cannot use the bottom tray in the freezer compartment because it will freeze at the bottom. I would suggest that you could try Sears. They are quite good. It is best to go to a store rather then listen to what others say. Ours is over ten years old and things will start to go wrong by then.

Whatever choice you make, my advice is not to buy a stainless steel one. Even though they say that they are finger print resistant, let me tell you, they are not. I clean houses for a living and almost every 34 of my clients have stainless steel appliances and every one of them hate them.
And I hate them even more because I am the one that washes them and it is impossible to make them streak free. I have tried every product there is on the market to clean them and still can't get them streak free. And it isn't just me. My daughter works with me and she can't get them good and my clients have also told me they can't get them streak free either.
I have adviced some of my clients, when buying a new appliance, not to get stainless steel and they still did and they have told me after they wished they had listened to me. They were sorry they didn't.

Thanks for telling me. I had no idea that stainless steel refrigerators were so much trouble.

Oh yeah, they get really ugly after awhile, and not just fridges but stoves and dishwashers and garbage cans too,.
