I once went on a date after chatting for quite sometime with a guy who lived about an hour from where i lived. It's obvious he sent me a picture of himself or I really would not have met him at all. Anyway, he had a great personality and a wonderful smile. How could I not talk to him. We finally decided to meet for dinner at a restaurant located not too far from me where we could have a nice casual dinner and some drinks. When I got there, he did not look at all like his picture. He told me he was 5'10" and he's really 5'6" and I know that because I'm 5'6". In the pic he seems to have blue eyes but he really had brown eyes and I thought his hair was blonde when it was really blonde. He didn't seem to think he looked different but he tried to convince me it was him. Once I got home, I looked at his pic again and saw that it really wasn't him. He sent me a pic of someone else. I don't understand why people do that but I obviously didn't see him again. Why would someone go to great lengths to send a pic of someone else? Do you have any internet horror story you'd like to share? Any good experiences or bad experiences?

Wow that must have been uncomfortable, I cant understand if a person knows your going to eventually meet them why do they try and pull off a lie? Even if they end up being not all that bad looking they have still decieved you before even meeting bad start. I cant believe that kind of thing can still happen since most people have a web cam or digital cam with thier PC, I would be making sure that way before meeting anyone lol.

Oh my god, you were scammed by some cheesy low - life guy. Men just won't be honest to himself. Instead, they don't have confidence at all. To show the real him, not someone else. To have a real relationship, you gotta be honest, and not some sort of joke for the girl you like, don't you think so?

Well i have one internet horror meeting story and being male, i guess it must be something. lol! Well there was this lady i met on the internet cafe after chatting few days ago. I really didn't ask for her photo because i thought i have investigated thoroughly. She's told me that she's an interior designer and she's graduated from a reputable school. So in my mind, i don't care how she looks like but i know she's decent. Come meeting time, when i saw her, i'd want to go back home but i was courteous enough to meet her. She looks like a loser to me and i'm pretty sure she's not from a reputable school and she's definitely not an interior designer. She even borrowed money from me right there and then. The worse part about it, she looks very untidy. Her nape looks kind of dirty to me and she doesn't look good at all, not even decently. To cut the story short, i acted that i received a message on my phone and i made it appear like it's an emergency so i need to go home.

He obviously did that because he has a low self esteem and believes he needs to have somebody elses looks to have a chance at someone. I never have had a hookup through the internet and probably never will. In the internet it is all about trying to look better than you really look and you usually do not act the same way in the internet as you do in real life. And why was it a nightmare? Was he ugly? Was he rude? Or is it just that you were mad because he lied about his looks. P.S.You seem to have a misleading typo "...and I thought his hair was blonde when it was really blonde."

I say horror story because of the fact that he lied to me... No one appreciates being lied to. Thanks for the typo alert..I meant to say I thought his hair was blonde when it was really brown. Thanks for your post.

Hey, I met an online friend few months back. It was actually cool. It was a male friend and initially i was in two minds whether to meet him or not. But luckily we met in one nice resturant and we had a nice time together. He is italian so i learned quite a few things about italian culture. I on the other hand paid all the bills , buyed him his return ticket but i did that gladly. There was no forcing and yes i remember i never saw his pic before either. I hope u have better experiances next time. If i ever meet a girl whom i met online first i want her to be honest too. Otherwise she is wasting my valuable time. Cheers, Tutul

That is odd that someone who was actually willing to go and meet someone in person would post a picture of someone else. He must have had really bad self esteem to have done that. It is kind of sad actually. I have never been out with anyone that I have met on the internet. I was actually married before the internet became really popular so I never really had that opportunity, but I did have some bad dates before I met my husband.
