I heard about this. My fiancee was actually just telling me about it today. Thanks for sharing the link so I could read the story for myself. This is absolutely unreal. What is this world coming to?? And what are these people thinking?! I can't even imagine...

That is terrible. I am shocked that he was offered a plea deal for something like that. Screwed up justice system we have.

I just read the link. He sure got the deal of a lifetime for sure if he got off like that but it had to be deeper though since he got off easier then anyone facing those charges has ever seen. He is going to become a lawyer so I guess or hoping that means he will straighten his life out. I think he should have gotten something more..or maybe even finished college in jail if that was possible but he didn't really get nothing but a stiff slap on the wrist while the other kid has had his whole life altered because of what happened to him. I sincerely hope that he takes advantage of this second chance that he has been handed and really put forth the effort to change his life for the good.

That makes no sense to me either. The laws are so corrupt and these people get by with everything it seems.

I heard about this story. It is absolutely unreal. I sometimes really wonder about the people making these decisions. What is this world coming to?? And who are these people we have "in charge?"

First reaction to this would have to been wow... someone getting shot and the person basically walks... Unforturately there are many crimes that are being comminent that go unpunished!! The jails are overflowing with criminals that new criminals can to the same thing and get a slap on the wrist and be told by the judge not to do it again!! After the prefered plead agreement is done they go out and do the same thing again! And still get a slap on the wrist!! What kind of justice system do we have? I used to live in a small town, and I found out a couple of years ago that the county judge and the DA would sit down once a week and have court cases predetermined before the first appearance in court... Without even hearing all of the evidence... When I was a teenager I bumped into the law a couple of times for doing stupid things... recieved a slap on the wrist... but when I was a vitdum of a serious crime where i was almost killed, the person got 30 months probation, 60 days in jail... and that was the second time... So I have learned if you are the vitcum you will end up getting the short end of the stick... and if you did something wrong, more then likely wont get into serious trouble... But you know we have "the best system" in the world... thats a joke

This is so wrong! I don't understand how the justice system could allow this. How can such a plea be permitted? Someone, who does commit such an action, SHOULD do jail time. The victim of this crime, I don't think, will have an closure. The fact that he didn't return to class says a lot about his position regarding what happened to him. This is something that really makes me mad.
