There are certainly that number of members but, of course, a large proportion of them are not active and probably haven't visited the site for several years. MyLot never deletes a member's account unless they have good reason to (because of violation of Terms or Guidelines) or if the member requests it, so there are bound to be only a small proportion of active members - possibly no more than about a thousand and almost certainly less than that. There are still plenty of people who respond to discussions, however. If you are receiving few or no responses, consider that it may be your discussions that are not interesting enough, not that there are too few members. There are two main reasons why some discussions receive more responses than others. The first is, of course, that the discussion appears to many to be worth replying to - in other words, it 'engages' people and inspires them to write quality responses; the second is that one has built up a good reputation on MyLot, which will usually also mean that one has many friends who have become friends because of a real interest in one's discussions and responses. Having a good list of friends certainly goes a long way to getting good responses but it is important to choose friends carefully based on their activity and interests.

yes owlwings , you were one of the oldest , i think that's the main reason ,you were talking about , but i always try to start interesting topics , & not create any new discussion in a quantity , but create few with qualities , then also my 2-3 are fully empty ,\ i dont make a friendship request to any till i not attracted towards them or if it is active.

That number probably includes the accounts of those who are no longer here but even so, your thoughts are going in the right direction in my opinion too. Too many users are convinced that creating new discussions is the way to go here. I am convinced that we should discuss on the already existing discussions and not keep starting new ones which are repeated topics half the time anyway. If we discuss on already existing topics we earn just the same. We earn for our activity anywhere on the site and there is no point in churning out new discussions with so many out there with few responses which deserve more. Shall we start a campaign?

You will certainly get paid, srganesh. It doesn't matter how old a discussion is: it's your participation that counts.

If you have something new to discuss - a new angle on something, perhaps - then I think it is OK to start a new discussion. Just make sure that you don't ask the exact same question as many others may have done and try to improve on the 'quality' or descriptiveness of your topic in some way.

Regarding your reply,I like to raise this question. Can we respond to discussions which are started an year ago too? Will it hold any meaning to get a comment for that? For example,I wanted to start a discussion on ICE numbers relating to cell phones, made a search here and found more than four discussions which are old. So,I simply backed up.Need your comment on this.Cheers!

I'm not sure if that is an exact number as people come and go on here. Though the population appears to be pretty great as I've seen a lot of users on mylot in the time I've been here. But just because there are a lot of members on here doesn't mean you'll get a lot of responses. Discussions can get passed up with so many being generated everyday. It helps to have a lot of friends on here if you are looking to get a lot of responses. It also helps to have discussions that everyone can relate to. These are just a couple of secrets to mylotting. I hope it helps! Good luck!

yes having a ot of friends is also a scret of lot of response , but , i dont want to make each & every minute i send a friend request , i stopped doing that after sending 20 friend requests , i want others to like my posts & topic then send me a friend request , is having a large number of friends will not decrease your reputation here.

Hi. This number is the number of registrations that have been there with this site and not the number of people here presently. Though I don't have anything to prove it but I believe at least half of the people who once registered here are gone after spending a bit of time here.

That is again not true. I think we encounter 100 of those people again and again and tend to feel that they are the only people here.

Good question. I'm still very new here, but I've started 4 or 5 discussions and only had one response. I even started a discussion on the brand new Tom Hanks movie "Angels & Demons" today and NOBODY has responded to that. I was really surprised, as I'd think there would be a lot of interest in a new, high profile film. Hmmmm....

thanks for very fast response , but sorry to say that , i also never heared about angels & demons , i think that is the reason , i have a suggestion , you can add the interests , which are related to your country & any of your topics , which can make your topic find more easily for those who are interested.

Often it is just chance whether a discussion gets responses or not. Although MyLot is an international community, you will find that there are times when it is 'slack' and times when it is busy. Very often there are excellent discussions which get no responses and languish for days or weeks because they don't get seen. This is why it is important to add relevant tags to discussions. Good tagging means that a discussion is likely to show up below or alongside similar discussions. If you have given it a good or catchy title, there is a good chance that someone may see it and respond to it. Angels & Demons may not yet have been released in China, the Philippines or India, so many people will not have had a chance to see it and so would not be able to comment.

yes i always try to add tags on all of my posts & topics , i think we also get some amount of that , if no , no problem & now i will always remember to add relevant tags to all of my discussions. thanks very much for this.

According to me the reason most of the discussions get less response is because they are repeated. By repeated I mean a similar discussion has already been started earlier and people have responded to it. Nowadays before starting a discussion I make a search in discussion option and find out if there has been similar discussions started before. Because people generally will not respond to same kind of discussion again and again. There must be some way to alert users, before creating a discussion, that similar discussions already exist.

yes you were true, it is one of the best reason , but what if old discussion has less responses , did you ever get faced by such things ever. thanks for your response.

It's the total number, and among us, there're many inactive members. Moreover, the're too many topics and I think that makes reason.

I think that's because people are very eager to earn and they register then after a few post they got tired. Unlike us who all believe in the power of a penny counts and the motivation in earning plus the people you meet here each day were all amazing. Especially if you feel that you have found a family in here where you can confine your worries and not being judged is a plus factor. Their were a lot of people here who has a lot of referrals but they are all inactive. :)

the top referrars are earnings from their referral only , according to mylot , we will get 25% of their earnings , i think my 25% earnings are also been earning by somebody , if any person refer the four persons here then it means 100% earnings , means he/she has no work , just enjoy referrals , if the person has 20 referrals then it means 500% ,\ & there are chances that minimum 5-6 persons will remain active , & others remain active when those today active here remain sleep. the best way to earn on internet is i found today is referral. thanks for your response , i got an very good idea.
